Honestly, this one of the top businesses in Pearland! This past June, Ms. Valerie's celebrated their 20th anniversary at the UH Cullen Theatre. The recital was phenomenal and I was amazed to see how many past students had returned to participate in the opening number. I found out later that many of her older students now own their own dance studios.

My daughter has been taking piano and dance for several years. She's not just a student, she's a member of the family. I recommend Ms. Valerie's to everyone I know who is looking for a place for their children to learn and flourish.

I love Ms.Valerie's school of dance. I used to go there, but I took a break. They really treat you like family over there and I miss it so much.

I attended Ms.Valerie??s studio before she moved to Pearland. Classes were great. Recitals were awesome; the advance group routines were always the best. (particularly the advance gymnastics) Intermediate groups?? routines didn??t stay behind either. Everyone always enjoyed our routines--we sure did have some great dancers back then!
Recitals were always organized. I knew exactly where I had to be before I was on stage (back stage, two numbers prior, if I recall correctly)
Stage moms were great, always there to helps us; they kept the show running smoothly. Back then Ms Valerie was the one teaching the advance students, not sure if that??s the case now.
Also, most of her students back in the 90??s were of Hispanic descent- so to accuse her of being ??unfair? is way out of line. She always treated her students with the same respect.
Yes, it was costly. I know my mother spent thousands of dollars my 7-8yrs there.
I never felt like was beig untreated fairly. I won numerous of awards--I think my first big award was my second yr there! One a few small ones and lost of big awards!

My daughter has been going to Ms. Valerie's since she was wearing Pull-Ups. I haven't had any bad experiences there and have always been treated with respect and in a professional manner. Ms. Valerie was her first teacher and she was patient, kind and cares about her students. I've always found Ms. Valerie very approachable. After my daughter's first class, she was hooked and would cry if she couldn't go to dance class. Fast forward five years and she still cries if she can't make it to class. For the past two summers, she has been able to go to workshops at Ben Stevenson Academy and her dancing has been right on par with the (same aged) students there. The workshop teacher was convinced that she was a student at the academy. [And, yes, I had to buy a different 'uniform' for her to attend]. She enjoys dancing in the recitals and I enjoy seeing the progress she's made over the years. I'm not the same race as Ms. Valerie but during the time my daughter has danced there, I have seen male and female students of different races receive awards for dance in the 'Best (tap, jazz, gym, hip hop etc.)' categories. My daughter loves to dance, loves her teachers and looks forward to going to Ms. Valerie's each week. And honestly, I enjoy the atmosphere myself because I've met wonderful parents and we chat/ support each other while we watch/wait for our children.

I agree totally with Joe S.about the recital. I was there to see my friend's daughter in the recital. Six months was entirely too long to have practices for such little time they had on stage. I thought about bringing my children there but I did not like what I saw. There were two black girls in the older group They were good. The one in the red in the Circus routine was awesome. How in the world did she not receive one of the top awards. She was awarded the most improved award. The two black girls named was called for one year of dance. OK, they have only been there for one year, but the one in the red danced rings around the other girls. Shouldn't that have told them something. It took the other girls years to achieve what she now has but she received most improved. The school should really be put out of business for that. So what I learned from the recital is that you have to be there for a number of years and you cannot be of color to receive one the top awards.I am sure her parents paid just like the other parents paid for their children. My friend's daughter told us that behind the stage that someone told her that she was a much better dancer than the other girls and people agreed. I refuse to allow my children to attend a school like that. By the way, I am of the same race as Ms.Valerie and I guess if that is what she needed to do to keep her students .My friend will not be sending her daughter back either.Ms.Valerie,could you please explain that?

Recital very unorganized. Classes very expensive, and children do not learn much. At recital, class of kids that had been practicing a routine for six months went on the stage and marched in place for the entire performance. One would expect that after six months of training, they could get the children to do more then march in place. Though, the children were very cute as they marched.Entire experience felt like a way to extort money from parents. This feeling begins with initial setup costs which include first months lessons, recital fee ($100), Ms. Valerie Logo leotards ($25 each & required), recital costumes ($60 each). My initial payment totaled over $500. Subsequently parents are asked to pay $175 dollars to have their children's picture in the recital book, which probably costs no more then $10 dollars to produce. Lastly at the recital, parents are not allowed to videotape their children but they buy their video for $75 dollars each. This was a very bad experience, however once you've realized how bad the school is, it is too late because you've already committed $500 dollars into the process. In addition to all that was mentioned above, though some of the teachers are nice, the owners and be rude to their customers!!! Now that the recital is over, we will be looking for a new school. I would also consider the validity of the previous reviews that gave this school five stars, as very little detail was provided to substantiate those claims.

Very expensive school that is not worth the money. Cost to begin lessons can exceed $500. Kids did not learn much. Recital was very chaotic, with parents trying to get their children backstage and subsequently missing their children's performance because they couldn't get back to their seats. In addition, Ms. Valerie failed to call one student during the awards ceremony, which lead to the little girl crying on stage. Someone that cared about their students would ensure that this type of heartbreaking situation would never occur. We will not be signing up for additional lessons with this school.

I highly recommend Ms Valerie's School Of Dance..I have personally known Ms. Valerie for many years. She comes from a highly respected family with a great Italian heritage. She is very professional in her approach, and she loves children. Being family oriented, makes her school very kid friendly.

Her mother Mrs. Paula Dunn has been a personal friend of mine for better than 30 years. She also assists Ms. Valerie with recitals and costumes..Kudos to both of them and much success in the future.

My daughter took several classes here and didn't really learn anything new. The classes are fairly expensive and don't last long and the instructors have a difficult time keeping all the kids focused and on task. Usually when working with the younger kids most places will have a helper in the room to assist the instructor- not at Ms. Valerie's. Also I spent a small fortune buying the required Ms. Valerie's leotards, shoes, recital costumes, etc. The recital was very disorganized and even the older kids' routines weren't very good.
