The new Chuy's just opened in Webster this past week, at I-45 South and Nasa Rd.. We contributed to the Grand Opening party by attending their first Friday night in business, for dinner. And Wow, what a party! The restaurant was packed with excited, happy diners who were equally happy as I was, to find a new Chuy's in their neighborhood. Chuy's has about a half-dozen or so hot sauces that you can request for free, with chips at your table. We loved the creamy cilantro and the regular tomato-based spicy hot sauce served at the table. Try the Comida Deluxe plate, or the Elvis Presley combo plate; they are both excellent and are topped with more enchiladas, tacos, cheese and food than any one person can handle. The margaritas were great, and the bartenders were friendly. The manager made a point of greeting us at the table as we first sat down at our booth. Our waitress was very friendly and on top of her game; she did not miss one beat in the tempo of serving us promptly and efficiently. The food was served fresh, burning hot, full of flavor, and at a reasonable price. The only question is, can this new Chuy's keep up this level of service and excellent food quality consistently? We'll see.

Was recommended Chuy's by some friends. Loved it. Waiter recommended the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and it did not disappoint. I'm drooling about it just typing this.

While I really like Pappasito's, this place gets a higher rating because of the quality of the chips and salsa and price. The ranch jalapeno dip was awesome!

I want to go back before we head home to Ohio!

There's a reason Chuy's is always busy -- because it is SO good. But even at a busy lunch hour, you'll still get taken care of as quickly as possible.

And the food is definitely worth the wait! The portions are huge, so you get a ton of bang for your buck. That said, don't over-order, and try splitting dishes with friends.

Everyone's friendly, food's delicious -- a great casual meal spot!

Service: A
Food: B
Value: A

Service
The service at Chuy's is excellent. The next few times I go, I will take note of any exceptional waiters/waitresses and post them here.

Food
I eat alot of Mexican food, and sample the beef fajitas everywhere I go to figure out what is great and what is good. Chuys has good beef fajitas, but the main reason I go back is because of the service and value.

Value
The prices here are very reasonable, especially if you are sharing fajitas. Here is a price breakdown of my typical Friday evening for 2.

Fajitas for 1 - $11.29
2 Margaritas - $7
2 Waters - Free

$21 = total with tax and tip.
$10.50 /person, not bad at all!

$13 = total with tax and tip without drinks.
$6.50 / person, that's cheaper than McDonalds!

I loved Chuy's. I used to eat there when I lived in Austin, and I started eating there in Houston on Westheimer when I moved here. The food is pretty good: I love the jalapeno cream dip and chips! he margaritas are yummy. But it is always packed, and you never get an accurate wait time from the hosts. The service is usually rushed... you can tell there is a lot of turnover because you rarely see the same person 2 times.

On Thursday the 23rd of May, my boyfriend, daughter and I went to Chuy's at like 6:30 pm... the place was so busy. We waited only 10 minutes, and when we sat down, we each had drinks and appetizers, we totally wolfed down all of the food because we were starving and the queso was awesome. We ordered chicken fajitas to split, and when it came we ate one taco each and were going for seconds when my boyfriend noticed something in the onions he was scooping up for his taco: A familiar insect that starts with "R" that guidelines won't let me say!!!! It was not very small either, grilled into our fajitas!

We alerted our server, who alerted the manager, who was apologetic, but seemed resigned to losing our business, so she didn't offer to comp any future drinks (because lord knows we would never EAT there again, but maybe we would drink), nor did she take my information to have the General Manager call me, or even give me her business card. I work in sales, so I understand being caught off guard and not knowing the right thing to do when a situation this bad occurs, but you MUST follow up at the very least.

Needless to say I have a bad taste in my mouth, and I knew it was my duty to inform future patrons.

Well if you like fahitas a la' coachroach, this is the place to be!!!!
Picture this, Thursday night, lot's of people and the fahita's come out sizzling. At first glance they looked great, but on closer inspection there was a grilled huge coachroach cooked with the onions and peppers.
The manager was not very concerned, he offered to buy our dinner. I would hope so! In any case We will not go there ever again and I urge anyone else not to go as well.
How can a coachroach get cooked in our meal and go unnoticed by the whole staff. There must be a whole lot of them in the kitchen. Very Scary!
Plus the place stinks like a dirty dishrag. Than should have been my first clue!
Consider youself warned!

I was born in Austin so it's safe to say I grew up eating at Chuy's. I've tried other Tex-Mex places, but nothing compares to what Chuy's has to offer. The queso is by far the best I've had in my life, and I've been to a lot of places between here and Arizona. My favorite dish is the Elvis Presley Combo. It's a ton of food, but you get an awsome array of their enchiladas with 1 blue corn chicken, 1 beef, and 1 cheese. The Baja Fish Tacos are also amazing with the fried fish, red cabbage, and with a drizzle of the jalapeno cream sauce. Parking at this location can be tricky, but just be patient and it'll happen. I'm pretty sure some of the waiters recognize me and my girlfriend when we go...pretty much once a week. Love this place.

Parents and their kids have destroyed this place. It is like a day care center. It is like eating in a elementary cafeteria. People are even starting to bring kids birthday parties into the place. Food is still great, and cheap, but we will never go back. I will have to wait till I go back to Austin to eat here again. Please get a baby sitter next time. It is not pleasant eating next to screaming babies.

A friend turned us onto this place in 2003. And if I don't get my Chuy's on a weekly basis, I go through major withdrawal! I love their creamy jalapeno sauce that comes with the chips. And since this place is perpetually crowded, we usually like to get there right at 11:00-ish on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Otherwise the parking lot is PACKED and there will be a wait. I also love getting my "usual" - custom enchiladas with chicken and queso sauce (sometimes I get the tomatillo sauce). My hubby usually gets the fajitas. Their pico is usually VERY good. And their queso is AWESOME. I totally recommend this place!

Chuy's is very good food for the price. Is there better Tex-Mex in Houston? Yeah. Pappasito's is a little better, but at over twice the price. Chuy's service is average - not great, but not bad. Parking is limited and difficult. They have a ton of tex-mex sauces, which allows a good variety on how the enchiladas and other dishes will taste. I have never gotten stale chips at Chuy's. I've never tried their fajitas - just their tacos, enchiladas, chalupas and other tex-mex. Again, they're not the best in the city, but they're very good. Because of Chuy's affordability and good food, it makes it easy to frequent this restaurant.

Cool place to go drink Margaritas and eat appetizers. The food here is way below average. The service is pretty awful as well. I've come here twice, the first time for drinks and sat at the bar. I had fun like I would going out drinking. Next time, I ate and experienced the restaurant. I won't be doing that again. This is basically frathouse meets girls gone wild, which is great for a bar.....but not for dinner!

I agree that the food really isn't that great. I'm sure there are better restaurants out there, but Chuys has reasonable prices. The margaritas are really tasty, esp. the margatinis. Watch out it gets crowded fast though. WARNING: If there is no parking, do NOT park your car in the back lot near the apartment complex. I got my car broken into in broad daylight, and the cop said a)this happens all the time and b) he wouldn't even file a police report for it. So much for a nice area. Otherwise, nice place!

honestly i don't think their food is all that ... to me it just taste like any other mexican restaurant, but the margaritas are definitely a must. the cozy tex mex ambience has a touch of the austin weirdness, which i like ... adding an eclectic vibe to the dominantly posh upper-end standards of riveroaks. most definitely a chill dining place with a group of friends.*

Friday night's boom-boom sauce (served on the Chicka-chicka-boom-boom enchiladas) is worth waiting all week for! Be prepared to hunt for parking for a while. Also come ready to sip a margarita because chances are you will be waiting for a while, too. Free nachos during happy hour, M-F 4-7pm.

I love their elvis presley memorial combo, the appetizer botana especially the flautas and that awesome creamy greeny sauce deluxe tomatillo sauce. yummified.

the salsa is pretty kickin and I believe the secret is a little pineapple.
usually the greasiest chips, but taste great in an evil way.

I go out of my way to eat this food. Ever since they closed down the Chuy's by my house, I drive all the way into the Upper Kirby area just to eat here. Chuy's is a place where Rte 66, Graceland & Tiajuana-America Diner kitsch collided in a bucket of pink, red and turquois paint. Its vibrant decor dazzles the eye, it'd be a fun place for casual family occassions or coeds on a budget; if you tolerate the humidty there's a covered patio. I came for lunch, but can imagine how crazy-loud this place gets with a dinner/drinking crowd. I had the Tues-Special, 3 beef tacos, simple presentation of great-tasting slow-cooked beef on soft tortillas with onion & cilantro, the rice and charro sides were tasty. They give you bottomless tortilla chips with really fresh tasting salsa. Our waiter was hard-working and friendly. Overall, this place has good value - $25 for 2, no drinks (hey, it was lunch!), shared dessert.

Pros: Value, good food, lively decor

Cons: Probably too loud with max patronage, and limited parking

The food here is pretty good, standard Mexican fare. The service is average, but the best thing about Chuys is their green sauce. Some call it Creamy Jalepeno, others Creamy J, still others call it Ambrosia. The stuff is amazing

Looking for awesome mexican or tex-mex? Chuy's is not anything special. I would find a local taqueria or go on down to Cafe Adobe. Chuy's is from austin, but lacks any originality with their food.

Great margaritas, best queso, good fajitas, enchiladas, and chimichangas; shrimp tacos and quesadillas are not on the menu but they will cook them if you ask; greasy, but who expects healthy at a Mexican restaurant? Must try the creamy jalepeno sauce! Hardly authentic, be sure to dodge the wall-to-wall yuppies.

Huge portions....authentic Tex-Mex food. Their special sauce served with fresh chucky salsa (both green and red) is a creamy jalapeno dip. It is a mixture of ranch dip, and spicy jalapenos. Fun atmosphere, and you can find it by the HUGE artistic FISH outside.

This place is great. My wife and I just moved here and every time we go out to eat she suggests Chuy's, and we've been there 3 times in 3 weeks. The food is good Mexican Food, the chips keep coming, and you have to ask for the Jalepeno Cream Sauce with your chips, I'm getting hungary writing the review.

Great, Causal atmosphere with great Margaritas!

We usually order the 911 Hot Plate, but all the menu items are excellent: we've never been dissapointed, and the wait staff is routinely cheerful and attentive.
