University Cooperative has been nothing short of fantastic. The teachers are not only caring, but truly passionate about teaching. We had our son overseas with us for several years, and attended what many believe to be "the best schools,"

I concur with these reviews. This is really the overall "package" in what a parent looks for in a school. Challenging and nurturing are the two words that come to mind. You will not find a better school in Seattle that is so well rounded. A well thought out curriculum created by an amazing teacher whom my child respects as much as me. The activities are a real bonus (believe me, there are endless activities) because it gives the students and staff the opportunity to bond with each other which builds a strong community. The other wonderful thing about this school is the parents. Really a wonderful bunch of people to be around which makes volunteering something you "want" to do instead of something you "have" to do. This is truly a gem of a school.

This is an amazing school and the best deal running for the tuition. My son graduated 5 years ago & this school nurtured and developed him & will forever have a place in my heart. I learned a TON about educational practices and philosphies, as well as the subjects taught. It's not a school for everyone because of the time committment, but for those who can do it --it's totally worth it.

My two children attend University Cooperative School. It is truly an amazing place! You will not find nicer kids and more compassionate, loving, extraordinary teachers anywhere. At U-Coop learning is joyful and fun. There is a strong focus on social skills and the arts as well as academics. The teachers treat the kids with a huge amount of respect. In return, the kids treat each other with respect and kindness. In fact, this is one of the crown jewels of this school -- the amazing degree of support, acceptance and even cheering each other on that the kids have and do for each other. They are not only proud of their own accomplishments but truly proud of their fellow students accomplishments and talents as well. ! From kindergarten to 5th grade, U-Coop is an exceptional learning environment for kids!

A fun, safe, caring place where kids are happy and learning. It's a treat to stop in just about any time and see kids working on a messy art project, immersed in a rain forest or medieval castle scene, or putting on a Shakespeare or self-authored play! The parents are well supported too and have good time with the teachers.
We feel very lucky that our kids get to thrive with such an outstanding teaching team and peer group for their k-5 experience.

It is rare to find a place where your child can be treated as a whole person with opportunities to express herself and discover herself at her own pace. I won??t claim that any school is perfect. I won??t claim that every school is right for every kid?or every family. And I won??t claim that schools don??t struggle.
What I can and do claim is that the University Cooperative School is one of the strongest communities I??ve been a part of. It is a place where teachers, parents, and kids work together towards learning. We focus on helping kids discover themselves?even during the hard times?and we all know kids have hard times.
I was saddened about the challenges in the K-2 class last fall. I was further saddened when families chose to leave. But the majority of families chose to stay and by the end of the year, it was a very different class. My family is one that chose to stay and I??m glad we did.
I am proud to be a member of this community. We listen when concerns come up. We work to improve areas of concern. We will never be all things to all people, yet we welcome all kinds of people.
I welcome others to come and learn about us.

Wow- this program for 3rd through 5th grade is truly wonderful. The teachers are so enthusiastic and in tune with each kid. The parent community is supportive and involved. What a magical place to be for three years!
