Got my windows and doors done and they look great. The people who came out were very friendly and neat as well. Didn't leave a big mess or anything. Thank you!

I like Gregg's Cycle because the people who work there they now about bikes, they give you the right information about bikes. Gregg's Cycle is the best bike store in Seattle, I say this is not because I want to win a bike is because I got the right information and the right bike.

I don't have a lot of knowledge about bikes but it appears you have a great selection. Very nice, modern, clean and well laid out merchandise and accessories. Ability to tootle around on the bike within the store a bit. It makes you want to buy there.

The employees are are very helpful and I feel very welcome at the store. I have only recently started getting into cycling and always have questions that are answered by the staff. I am becoming a better cyclist with their help and I always find what I am looking for at Gregg's. Thanks so much.

Went in there prepared to spend some money on a quality bike and expected to have sales people with extensive knowledge about the bikes they carry. Expected the ability to compare one brand to the other and give me some feedback on pros and cons in order to make an informed decision. What we got was a young salesperson with limited bike knowledge and just basically "showed" us the different bikes and recited some basic bike description they had probably just had her memorize in order to sell the bikes. It was very dissapointing and we had to make the uncomfortable choice to ask her to refer us to a sales person that was familiar with the bikes. That person was more knowledgeable but seriously lacking in customer relations and came off like he could give a rip if we bought the bikes or not. Not a place I would ever consider spending couple grand on a high quality bike. Would rather give my money to smaller bike shop that appreciates their customers....Ended up finding that at Redmond Cycle and was very satisfied with this shop and its owners. Love, Love my new bike. Worth every penny I spent there, no regrets.

I am the owner of Gregg's Cycle and have owned this business with my wife since 1975. The original business was founded by R.V. Gregg, my Grandfather, in 1932 and has a continuous family operating history for the past 78 years. We have never taken a short run approach to how we do business. We are passionate about cycling, and at the core of our philosophy, and the first priority of our company, is customer service.

Our goal is to satisfy every customer that comes into one of our stores in ways that encourages them to be lifelong customers of Gregg??s. Brick and mortar businesses such as ours must rely heavily on repeat business. It is essential to build an ongoing loyal customer network within our communities to survive.

The "report cards" on how well we are doing regarding building customer loyalty are found in our business growth, ratings, and comments. In the first two categories we have done quite well. Our business has grown over 2000% since 1975, allowing us to expand to three state of the art locations in the Greater Seattle Area. Our sales volume is 50 times the annual sales of the average U.S. bike shop.

We have had the privilege of being honored over the years in many industry and consumer polls. Gregg??s has been rated as high as the 3rd best bicycle shop in America (Bicycling Magazine) and voted the ??Best Bicycle Shop in Western Washington? for both 2009 and 2010 (King 5 consumer poll with over 190,000 votes being cast). Gregg's Cycle has also been voted to the Bicycle Retailer Top 100 U.S. Bicycle shops listing for every year this poll has been conducted (over 25 years) as well as being named a ??Five Star Retailer? by this publication in recognition of ??Outstanding Effort and Achievement?. There is no bike shop in the western U.S. that has received anything near this number of industry and consumer accolades.

These polls and awards do not tell us for certain that we are delivering exceptional service to each of our customers, but are evidence that we are having a level of success in accomplishing our stated service mission. Being on the large end of the scale for bike shops, with 130 staff members, presents challenges that we are continuously addressing. Our goal is for every staff member to provide friendly, competent and thorough service in every instance. I know some consumers prefer the smaller shop environment where they can deal directly with the owner, or at least the same staff member, when visiting. While we are not a small shop where every staff member may perform every function, our goal is to hire staff that have customer service "DNA?, have good communication skills, and are avid cyclists. We have extensive, structured training for staff that stresses customer service and product knowledge.

As for our rating, I would give us four stars. As a competitive cyclist, I would never say we're the best, but I know we're at the front of the pack. We can always do better and strive for that.
In reality, businesses with more customers may receive more negative customer comments than businesses with less customer volume. This is largely due to the fact that dissatisfied customers are at least 10 times more likely to comment than satisfied customers. Gregg's has significantly larger business levels than all other bike shops in the Seattle Area, as much as 20 times that of our local competitors.

While it is helpful to have honest feedback, both positive and negative, it is concerning that anybody can pretty much broadcast on the web anything they choose with few restrictions or accountability.

Our family has spent nearly all our adult lives dedicated to the success of our business and we take it all very seriously, whether this involves receiving an award or resolving an unsatisfactory customer experience.

At Gregg's, we would never condone or allow a customer to be treated unfairly, or disrespectfully. I would hope that any customer who felt that their experience was unsatisfactory would pursue the matter with our staff and management and give us a chance to remedy the situation.

I invite any of you one star reviewers to come into or call any of our three stores, ask for the store manager (Tim at Bellevue, Leif at Greenlake or Rob at Alderwood) and explain the circumstances that led to your dissatisfaction, or please feel free to call me (Stan) at (206 523 1822 Ext. 102). If you still feel we are a one star shop after that, I will accept your rating. In the mean time, I think you may be a bit of a tough grader!

They sold me an unsafe bike and tried to claim it was just how bikes worked. So I took it in and they sort-of fixed it. The problem came back so I took it back in 3 weeks later and they installed apart that made it safe to ride again but charged me for for the labor (the $5 part was fine). Why sell an unsafe bike that needed a part to be ridden? Iv'e been to allot of bikes shops and I could get over the rudeness and the down-talking. I could even get over them not trusting me when I said the shudder was violent and not-normal. But they should have apologized for selling me a broken and unsafe bike and fixed it for free. I would never recommend this place to anyone. In fact I highly recommend people do NOT go to this shop and I will never go in again. I really tried to give them a chance and my review isn't based on one person working there. Remember: you never buy a bike. You buy a local bike shop. If you don't like the shop or it has several negative reviews do not buy a bike there. Even if it's a steal. You will pay for it with grief or money later.

I waited around while three mechanics at Gregg's chatted with each other right behind the counter.

When I did get service to replace the handle bar and stem, my original parts, still in perfect condition, which are no longer made were not returned after service. Then I learned of the bizarre rotation shifts of mechanics; one crew does not know what the other crew is up to.

I still don't have my parts and someone each day is supposed to call me back. No one did. So now the manager is supposed to take over. I have yet to hear from him.

I recently purchased a bike from Greggs. I came in on a busy Sunday and I was helped immediately. They were able to get me into the perfect bike at the price I wanted. I also had a problem with my bike a few months later and they repaired it at no charge. Great Service and staff.

Hi we just paid 100 dollars to have my wife??s road bike inspected.

With hardly any use the rear tire blew. When we looked at the tires a bit closer we realised that they were completely rotten! this happened the day before her first triathlon.

So much for a safety check!

Can anyone recommend a good cycle shop in the Ballard area?
So far we have had great service from Speedy Reedy and Recycle Cycle.
Never going back to the #3 best bike shop in the USA! Ha!

...because when it comes to the service department, I'd give them one star. My experience involved making a reservation two weeks out for service on two bikes. My scheduled service day of August 8 arrived, I loaded my two bikes and arrived at Gregg's at 10:15 AM to drop them off for a day of service.

Upon my arrival I was told by the clerk that since I didn't drop my bikes off the day before my scheduled service day, that the bikes wouldn't be done until Saturday PM. I was told that if I had brought them in by close of business the day before my scheduled appointment that this wouldn't been an issue.

I asked him to explain to me exactly what would happen with my bikes between close of business the day before and 15 minutes into business the day-of my schedule service appointment. The reply "nothing, that's just our process." Well if you ask me, Gregg's service process sucks!

I was offered the opportunity to leave my bikes through Saturday which I politely declined. The staffer was kind enough to remind me the 90-day free check-up I was having done on one of my bikes (a bike purchased at Gregg's) would not be free at another bike shop. I replied that this was okay and I would prefer to pay another shop to do the work than continue to do business at Gregg's.

Elliott Bay Cycles - here I come!

Without a doubt one of the worst bike shops in Seattle. Spent over $1,200 on what should have been a great bicycle. But when it came time for service, they lost my appointment. Made me bring the bike in a second time after waiting several weeks for the first appointment.

Gregg's will sell you whatever accessories THEY think you need. They don't really listen to you. You would be much better served going to any of the numerous small shops, where the owner/employee will take the time to give you serious advice.

Pros: big selection, lots of parts

Cons: no apologies for lost appointments, scheduling an appointment is a nightmare

.

1) Lost my initial order for a bike. I called a week later and they had no record of initial order.

2) When the bike came in, it was built poorly by Gregg's mechanics. Brakes were not toed in, and actually shuddered when brake pressure was applied. Front derailuer was scraping. I asked the mechanics to fix brakes and derailuler before I left store. They fixed the brakes, but not the derailuler. I also notice on the ride home that the front wheel was not true.

3) During the sale, my salesperson informed me that I would receive a 30 day quick tune (tightening of brake cables, etc) and a 90 day full tune-up, free with sale. After 30 days I attempted to get my quicktune and was informed that there is no 30 day tune. Customer service attempted to resolve this by saying "sorry, he misspoke".

Apparently, spending $650 on a bicycle at greggs doesn't get you as much as you'd hope.

I was in Gregg's Greenlake Cycle the other week and another customer was trying to return a pump that he was having problems with. The person from Gregg's couldn't have made the guy feel smaller in statue or more intimidated. I felt very sorry for the guy. Is there worst customer service than at Greggs? Get your bike needs anywhere but here!

Greg's is one of the best and most complete bike shops I've been to in a long time! If you need a bike or service, get here and you'll get some of the region's best! Greg's has some of Seattle's best mechanics and are willing to answer your questions. It's a tad on the spendy side but that's to be expected when you're so close to downtown.

PROS: Everything!

This place has high end bikes from one thousand to six thousand dollars worth. They have amazing mountain bikes and even more amazing road bikes. Do not come here unless you really want to spend a lot of money. They also have supplies section in the front of the store and that includes helmets and gloves.

If you are in the market for a bike, and it's summertime so you should be, consider Gregg's. The service I got when I shopped here was awesome. I felt comfortable with the sales associate and I knew that I wouldn't be thought less of for asking, what may seem like, obvious questions. I highly reccomend Gregg's.
