The Montlake Bike shop has a nice selection of bikes, accessories, gloves, and other biking gear. The employees are very knowledgeable and aren't too pushy.

I completely agree with the first reviewer. The store is reasonably sized, but really is a neighborhood shop. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It's a low-pressure environment that at the same time offers the help and information that you need to find a bike that will work for you.

The prices are reasonable, and the models range from local brands such as Raleigh to more expensive foreign imports such as Cannondale. You can test drive any bike any time--in fact, they'll probably insist.

Go here if you want to get some great customer service in a low-pressure environment.

In a city with tons of bike shops, none come close to the service and selection at Montlake Bikes in Montlake (just south of the Lake Washington Ship Canal on 24th). This small neighborhood bike shop has a huge selection and every single person working there is an avid biker with lots of knowledge. You can get a good deal on a great bike there, and it's a one stop shop for getting maintenance done, especially if you have a higher end bike. I bought a great Canondale Mountain Bike there a few years ago and always got awesome service when I brought it in for tune ups. They also rent bikes (nice models, not cheap stuff) for a day or weekend which is a great option if you have people coming to town and you want to take them on a ride.

PROS: great staff, full maintenance shop, good selection of high quality bikes
CONS:
