This Mission is very old and beautiful. It has great gardens around and is a very peaceful place to stop to have a nice break. They have guided tours, or you can visit it on your own. The guided ones are of course better to cover the history and meaning of the place and they are not long. Great place to visit

This historic mission, founded in 1771, is a very worthwhile hour-long visit on any trip through the Monterrey/Carmel area. The architecture and grounds are beautiful and the small musuem inside gives visitors a glimpse into life in 18th century California. At $4, this is a must.
