My girlfriend and I ate here before a show at the Fox. I called to make reservations but was told they didn't reseve tables for parties less than four. We arrived at 6:15 and the host told us 45 minute max wait. We we're not seated until 7:15. This was a little irritating and the crowd waiting made it very hot in the lobby. Once seated we were promptly waited on. The was kind enough to ask if we were going to a show. The food was great and very reasonably priced. The pizzas are a good size for two, especially with an appetizer. We ordered the calamari and antipasto appetizer and we're unable to finish the pizza. Food was great and we made it to the show on time. I will go again, just not when the fox has a show or early to beat the theater crowd.

Pros: Great Food, Price, Free Valet

Cons: Theater Crowd, Wait, Hot

Each time I've visited the host has been rude about seating incomplete parties that are ready to order. I was entertaining clients and our party changed from 4 to 3 during the time I was waiting. I'd arrived 30 min. early to ensure my name was on any wait list that might appear & when we indicated we were ready to be seated they tried to seat us @ a table for 2 where they'd pulled up another chair. When I complained they said it'd be another 25 min. b/c I had others in front of me on the wait list - even though my name had been 1st. The wait staff is friendly and the food is good, but after trying to get a table it is not worth it. Reservations are out of the question. I gave them several chances and exp. the same fate each time.

I found Baraonda on City Search and best tip that it was probably great was the recommendation to "go to the Olive Garden...." My husband lived in Italy, next to the local restaurant for 8 years, and we NEVER go to the Olive Garden - his home cooking is so much more authentic! I moved here 4 months ago and Baraonda is, by far, my favorite restaurant. I highly recommend the pizza or the daily specials - which are seasonally based - like they would be in Italy. My husband (not here with me due to our careers) visited this weekend and gave his seal of approval. He doesn't recommend Italian restaurants lightly. The staff is very close - like family. For a quieter atmosphere, visit when the Fox Theater is dark, or on Sundays.

Pros: Authentic Food, Friendly Staff

Cons: Crowded , Sometimes Loud

.

We recently ate here for the first time in a year, and were very disappointed--If you can overlook the obvious construction (not sure why they didnt close), the so-loud music that sign language should be the 2nd language used here (although the choice of music was great) and the unhappiness in the faces of the staff (except for what looked to be a meeting of frat-boy waiters watching a football game)--then you may wanna go---The food was good and our server was overall good (even though he couldnt hear us)-I hope they get everything worked out--I hate that this restaurant has gone downhill--

My friends and I were in town to see the Phantom at the Fox and we chose to eat at the Baraonda upon high recommendation and it was a "Very Disappointing" experience. The customer service from the hostess and waitress was incrediblly rude and obnoxious. The food was good but not good enough to endure such horrible service. Because there was 6 of us the waitress was guaranteed a 19% gratuity tip and she didn't desire a 1% tip. The music was so loud we couldn't even here each talk without yelling.

This is very good location for some food and a few drinks after seeing a show at the Fox. The food is more Italian than it is American-Italian (which is a plus) and the atmosphere is lively and young.

I decided to try this place out after reading several great reviews, but it turns out the negative ones are accurate. The staff are just RUDE. I've never been to a restaurant where I felt the place was trying to LOSE customers. They made no effort to accomodate our group and suggested we split up and sit in separate sections of the dining room. (And we DID call ahead). Apparently a reservation means nothing to them. On top of that, they acted like WE were unreasonable in wanting to dine together! I can honestly say that I've never been treated worse at a dining establishment. These people need some serious training in customer service. Our party ended up leaving and walking to another restaurant where we were treated MUCH better. Do yourself a favor and pass this dump by. The food is overrated anyway.

Great date place. Great food. Great service. One of the last cool little hideaways in Midtown that isn't completely cheesed-out. Keep it real guys!

The pizza at Baraonda tastes like the first one I ever had. It was prepared by an Italian family who barely spoke English, and it was here in Atlanta that I had it, around 1962. The next time I had pizza that good was in Italy, in Siena, 3 years ago. I've had lots of pizza in between, but the qualiy of the cheese and the simplicity make the pizza from Baraonda a stand out.

this is one of the best italian restaurants I've been to. The prices are very reasonable and the food is wonderful...also has an authentic feel to it. Service is great, location is great, parking though is the only drawback. Maybe I didn't find the right parking space....I don't know. Overall, it's a great place. The pizza is wonderful too!

I ordered the Carpiciossa (sp?) pizza and my friend ordered the antipasto plate. The pizza was well worth the $10 and all of the prices are very reasonable. My neopolitan style pizza was very good and I would say authentically Italian. The anitpasto plate was very good and a fair deal for $9. One pizza, the antipasto plate, foccacia bread, and two beers came to about a mere $29. I'd say everything was mid priced and even the pasta dishes were very reasonable. The inside is dark and kind of loud but that was cool with us. Service was very good and there were just a few open tables the whole night. The patio filled up quickly and they have an open pizzeria kithcen towards the back seating area.

Stick with the pizza here! They have a lot of different varieties - I loved the spinach and ricotta that I ordered. The wine was also great and the servers were friendly!

We made a reservation and were made to wait ONE HOUR AND 15 MINUTES, the hostess never even greeted me when I came in, she never spoke to us to explain why we were waiting, unless we went to ask her, no one would try to help us, the manager was an idiot, he never even bought us a drink or sent us bread or anything, there were a few empty tables but they refused to push them together or move them around at all. We will NEVER go back there and hope they learn how to treat customers. The only plus is that other restaurants were nearby for us to walk to where we were promptly seated and served.

We had a party of 8 for a 9:00 pm reservation on Jan. 22, 2005. We arrived at 9:00 for our table. We were told that we could not sit down until our entire party was present. Our party was ready at 9:05 pm. Wewere told it would just be a minute or so. We finally left the god forsaken restaurant at 10:30 with empty stomachs. The hostess was anything but helpful. The manager was the most incompitent human being I've ever come in contact with. They could have accomodated us but they chose not to. Not once did the manager approach us to explain what was going on, nor did he offer a drink while we waited. NOTHING!! Ihave met 10 year olds with more compitence in their pinky than the jackhole manager working. 1/22/05

My best-friend and I wanted to go to a nice little place to have a quiet dinner just to catch-up... well a friend told us about Baraonda- and she was right, it was AWSOME. Erin was our server, she was great, she was there when we needed her..... but left us to talk and we never felt rushed to leave. The was FAST, not only our food but everyone around us! I will go there again without a doubt.

How anyone can say that they've had numerous bad experiences at Baraonda is beyond me. After dining here at least 10 times, I've found the food, service, and atmosphere to be excellent. And the martinis aren't bad either. Best of all, it's open late and very reasonably priced. I give it a 9 out of 10.

I don't understand why this place got such good reviews. I live righr next door ans I won't eat there if I'm starving. I've been there 3 times. Not once, but three times and the food was really crappy. Its supposed to be real Italiam cusine from real Italians, but the food sucks big time. I've had the lasagne, a pizza and a seafood dish. All of it was horrific. The only good part about the whole restuarant was my very adorable waiter. If you want good Italian food go to Olive Garden, don't go here.

Tonight was my first experience at Baraonda, but I will be back. My date chose it as we walked along Peachtree- totally unplanned- but we were both very pleased! The food is great for the money, the ambience is so nice and relaxed, and the wait-staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. Our waiter seemed sensitive about when to be attentive and when to leave us alone! Awesome experience!

I've dined at this fine restaurant/bar more times than I can count and have never had a bad experience. The martinis are some of the best in town, and it's always nice when a waiter (in this case, Luca) remembers what kind after being served by him only once. Kudos also to my other favorite server, Jon. The food and service are always excellent, even when they're slammed after an exodus from The Fox. The prices are very reasonable, and I always enjoy the music being played. Baraonda is a Midtown masterpiece!

I don't want to say the place is "average" because it has a lot of things going for it. The vibe is decent, although the generic trip-hop world beat music is not. The bar is small but friendly, and drinks are way overpriced. The service is okay but our server didn't seem to thrilled to be there. Pizza? Go for the funkier toppings. My margharita pizza was pretty boring. All in all it was thoroughly okay and reasonably priced (except for the call drinks...$9 for a Ketel One with a splash of OJ!?!?!) Oh, one more thing....the calamari could have been from Red Lobster....very dull with no seasoning.

...and this is some of the closest I've found. The burro and salvia (sage and butter) white pizza delicious from the wood-fired oven, and the carpaccio was such a treat -- rare to find it done well here. Great wine list. I had a really terrible experience here about a year ago and decided to give it another shot. Bad idea. The pizza isn't thin and crispy like the critics rave about, its just so-so. Pasta was watery and when I asked about it I was told that "that's how people like it in Italy". Great way to treat a customer. And to top it off, I left a 15% tip anyhow (I usually leave around 20%), and the waiter confronted me on the sidewalk to complain about "the lousy tip"

Having been to Italy for an extended trip recently, I have found that my initial assessment--that the pizzas here are authentic and as good as many found in Italy--was right. This is great thin crust, wood-fired Italian pizza. Too bad the person who rated this place a "2" can't be taken off--he or she must have been under the effects of medication that day. (Also, they tried the pastas, which, although good, aren't nearly as good as the pizzas.)

Great place for Italian! Baraonda is only a few blocks from our house- so we frequent it often. We have gone in large groups/alone or with just another couple. The service and food has always been great! Their specials- risotto, raviloi and fish specials are usually great! The pizza is brick-oven and gourmet style and always a great stand-bye. They have a good wine list- and are helpful if you want suggestions. Great place to stop before a show at the Fox- but also need to be wary of going during pre-show/ post-show- because it will be packed then.
Eating at the bar is good on crowded nights- but a nice romantic table is the corner is even better!

It was a slow night the restaurant wasn't crowded, which aided to a romantic candle light dinner. my guest and I ordered the calamari and the caparccio and loved them both. The entree was good but not worth raving about. However, our server was very personable I even found myself laughing out loud at the things we conversed about. I was not able to force another fork full of food down so I opted for limoncello which I was told was made by the bartenders. I definently enjoyed my evening!

OK, I have been going out for nice sit down dinners in ATL for about a year now and this place has one of the best atmospheres in town, and hands down the best service in Atlanta. Not to mention the food was excellent. The pizza I had was amazing, the brouchetta was very good, and my date had the lazagna and she really liked it as well. Everything was fantastic...I recommend the pizza! It was also right next to all the Fox, which was pretty convenient!

The only drawbacks is the parking which is further away and is very busy on weekend so waits can be a litle long.

I've been in search of italian pizza to remind me of the years i lived in Italy as a child. And i finally found it. Baraonda's is a neat italian eclectic like enviornment one block north of the fox on peachtree. It's ok to eat one all by yourself because they are sooo good!!! And prices are great for the little midtown restaruant. The music, waiters and choice of outdoor seating are great!

I have been to Baraonda on three occassions, and every one was pleasurable. I was always seated quickly, and the servers were always attentive and pleasant.
I appreciate the atmosphere and overall vibe of this restaurant. The food is great and the prices are even better.
