Great dentist. Great office. State of the art equipment. Very nice people working there, too.
Very thorough exam. I haven't had work done yet, so that's why I only gave them a 9 out of 10.

No need to fear seeing a dentist anymore! Dr. james is the best dentist in San Francisco. I searched high and low all over the Bay Area for someone like him, until a close friend recommended him to me. He is extremely well qualified, and bedside his manners are the best. I have recommended himto family and friends and each one of them raves about Dr. James. He is world class dentist

I am a dentophobe to the max! This office immediately puts you at ease, starting with a thoughtful questionaire about your history (including phobias!). It is the most state of the art office I have ever seen, including a digital xray technology (NO radiation!), video so you can watch what the dentist is doing in your mouth as he does it, or choose to watch a movie while you are in the chair. dr is down to earth, commander of his trade, more expensive for a good reason (did i mention the views from the office?!)

As far as I can tell, Dr. Const is top flight technically, though I have no special expertise in assessing that.

He is very much a patient advocate, willing to make extra effort to deal with insurers. He is also notable for discussing the costs, likely benefits, and possible risks of any treatment plan, never exuding the attitude "You should just do what I say" of many medical and dental professionals.

He has also made sure that his own "The patient comes first" attitude on his staff. They are friendly and courteous and offer juice or bottled water to every patient who comes in.

Insofar as dental appointments can be pleasant, those to Dr. Const are.

PROS: patience in explaining options without pressuring
CONS: office is currenly under some reconstruction

I had used Jim Const for a few years and until I recently needed extensive work done ( much deffered by him over time), I didnt realize that his prices are 30-50% higher than dentists with less bells and whisles. Lately work has been done by dentists unlicesed here from other countries and a newly graduated student. The referrala he gave me for a second opinion were people he knew in the building that were very very expensive.

I was referred to Dr. Const by my best friend when I first moved to SF. He is by far the BEST dentist I've been to in my life. He is smart, funny, patient & takes the time to get to know all his patients. I cant forget to mention that he has the most amazing staff too. They handle all the insurance paper work for you!!! This was VERY important to me. I always receive birthday & Holiday cards from his office. I have moved back to San Jose but continue the trek up north to see him. My best friend & I actually look forward to our dental visits. Did I forget to mention his killer blue eyes?
