Had some problems a few years ago with a cyst and they handled it very well and knew exactly what to do, ensuring my issue wasn't something major - which gave me peace of mind at that time.

I had both my daughters with Oasis and love them! They always answer all of my questions and concerns without making me feel stupid. The front desk has also always been nice and professional with me.

I have been going to see Dr. Messer for the last year and she is great. She really takes the time to talk with me to go over my health and make sure my Thyroid is under control.

Dr. Messer is the best obgyn! She is personable, takes time with me and is compassionate. I had a sensitive medical issue and she was so caring and supportive. I cannot say enough about this doctor or Oasis Obgyn.

When I go to Oasis I feel like a real human and not part of a cattle call. They are very thorough and you can ask them anything without feeling embarrassed.

After being more than frustrated and having some serious female issues, I asked my family doctor to recommend a new gynecologist for me and he sent me to Dr. Messer at Oasis OBGYN. Wow, what a blessing that turned out to be! Since becoming her patient my issues have been corrected all with kindness, patience and professionalism. I highly recommend her to all females because as a woman, we know how uncomfortable these issues can be to talk about.

Finding a doctor is a scary process and finding a gynecologist, even more so. I initially went to Dr. Messer on a recommendation and I was not disappointed. At our first appointment we sat in her office and discussed any concerns and questions I had. She made me feel so at ease and the exam was quick and painless!

I did not care for my last gynecologist so my insurance company sent me to Oasis OBGYN. I just went again for the second time for my yearly exam. The staff was very friendly! I am plus size girl and the nurse snuck me in a gown to fit me better and did not make a big deal of it. The exam was quick and painless and Dr. Messer was fantastic.

I recently moved to Mesa and was in need of a new gynecologist. A friend recommended Oasis to me and I had just forgotten to make the appointment. When I missed my period I figured it was time to make the call. They got me in at the last minute. Dr. Messer was great, very understanding and sympathetic. Turns out I was not pregnant but missed my period due to extreme stress (moved across the country, got into a car accident, etc?)

I love Oasis OBGYN. I have gone there for both my pregnancy and have been going for yearly exam for 4 years. I absolutely love Messer i have always felt like she really cares about me. My first pregnancy the hospital did not contact her to let her know i was pushing and to get to the hospital and she happened to stop by and check on me because she thought i was odd i had not had the baby yet. The moment she walked in the door i heard her chew the nurses out she was so furious because i had been pushing for 4 hours my son had gotten stuck. Within 20 minutes of her being there she got him out and he was great. I ended up needing a blood transfusion I lost half my blood and they were right on top of it they gave me such great support and care and they let me stay in the hospital until i felt ready to go. I also had preclampsea with my son and Dr. Messer and Dr. Ballaro who I also loved took great care of me. My second child was just as positive and she even gave me a gift and checked up on me. Now when Dr. Ballaro left somethings did get a little crazy. Messer has gone through a couple other doctors with her and didn't work out. i did not like most of them either so i was fine with it. She decided to just continue on her own and I was fine with that it means waiting longer to see her and sometimes not getting to see her but she still cares about you and I feel it is worth the wait. All the staff there cares and tries to answer your concerns and i have seen everyone in the office. There is one i do not care for has much but we just have conflicting personalities she is not bad I just find i get annoyed with her. I will always go back to Oasis so I Highly recommend it. You do have long wait times so if you don't like that then don't go but i feel it is so worth it in the end.

If your time is precious to you I strongly urge you to look elsewhere, we have had many appointments with this office and everyone runs 45 min. to 1 hour late before being seen-which does not make you feel special during your first pregnancy more like a number. The nurses and ultrasound tech are great...however it's very difficult to see the actual doctor. You really need to question if it's worth it as every appointment will be running way behind and they will not apologize for this fact as they have accepted it as status quo.

The nursing staff is friendly and helpful; however Leanne, the insurance staff is very rude, unfriendly, and very difficult to get any help from. Often you are charged too much, she does not help when you call with questions. I would stay away from this office until they get new help in that department.

Do not go to Dr. Messer for any care! Underneath her cheery and cutesy attitude is a catty, defensive and mean temperment. She completely and absolutely botched my miscarriage diagnosis, causing me to carry the dead fetus for six weeks before the D&C and then argued angrily with me instead of offering apologies and condolences.

During my miscarriage, I hardly bled at all and didn't pass any tissue. She told me my body had absorbed the 10-week fetus. I had to fight to get her to order an ultrasound but she wouldn't schedule it for 2 weeks - her office made me feel like I was paranoid and they were doing it "for my peace of mind."

Sure enough, the ultrasound showed the baby was still there, but the office wouldn't schedule the D&C for another week. They still acted like I was an annoyance to them and they just wanted to be done with me. I was upset and when I told Dr. Messer I was frustrated that she hadn't ordered an ultrasound earlier, she defensively said, "You don't have the right to be frustrated until you have gone to medical school and done a gynecology residency." I was shocked! I told her I felt like it should be standard procedure for someone who hasn't passed tissue to have an ultrasound and she told me to stop telling her how to practice medicine and to find another OB/GYN.

I definitely will. She was mean and vindictive when she should have been apologetic. I know doctors aren't perfect and make mistakes. But they should acknowledge their mistakes and try to make it right. My miscarriage was emotionally traumatizing because I lost my baby. But the pain was exacerbated by a doctor who didn't want to make time for me and who didn't accurately diagnose the problem.

Dr. Messer delivered my son and I felt like she cared at that time. It was extremely hard to get appointments with her and often I waited for more than an hour to see her. Sometimes her waiting room had pregnant ladies sitting on the floor because it was so crowded. I think she has potential to be a caring doctor, but she is too busy and has too many patients to care for. Whatever good she did with my son's delivery was diminished by her crazy rude behavior with my miscarriage. I will definitely never go back and will never recommend her.

My daughter turned 18 and I sent her into Dr Messer;s Office for her 18 well woman. To find out that they will not examine her becuase she is under 21 and even she has had sex she would still need to wait til 21 to have exam. The doctor was great (brand new) and her first day on the job. She wrote her a birth control prescription and almost every month at Walgreen's we hear they need doctors approval. She went to the doctor in Feb and started her birth control in March. The prescription is on auto refill and with only 3 days left, Walgreens calls to say the doctor refused the refill. Not sure why when she gave her a discount card for one year. Anyway, I call the doctors and all they are concerned with is making an appointment. Now tell me why? Had there been a problem with the prescription by now we would have straightened it out. Perhaps another money making business practice???

The office was very nice and I enjoyed the christian music they played on the radio. The only problem i had with them is when i found i was pregnant i was 11 weeks along. I did an ultra sound and then the Messer tells me I need to get an 2d ultra sound.. i asked her why and she said that the results in the ultrasound came back with a possibility of having a down syndrome baby. She said that women want to know so they can make a decision with keeping the baby or terminating the baby. I told her I dont want to find out and God gives us we can handle. I was getting calls from them at least 3 times to get checked and felt i was being pushed to get a 2d ultra sound. I asked her if there was something else wrong other then possibly having a DS baby..she said no. I called my husband and told him that They are ruining my pregnancy and getting me so worried about everything. I told him why cant they take NO for an answer. He called them and said to leave me alone and we arent planning to terminate our baby. The day i went in the hospital to deliver our child .she was born 100% normal just like I knew she would. The waits are so long but that didn't really bother me much. Stephens is nice, and was very helpful when i needed to see her. She answered a lot of questions for me.

I am so happy to of found this site to have the opportunity to say how I feel about Dr. Messer....I love her!!!! Several times I've wanted to write a letter and never did. I had my first baby with a different doctor and not so great of an experience. My cousin who is an RN and worked with Dr. Messer referred her to me. I am one who worries and analyzes every pain and feeling into being the worst case scenario, (if I didn't think of everything then who would? right?) Dr. Messer took all of that away for me, I could be pregnant and go through the labor and delivery nearly worry free knowing I was getting excellent care. If there was something wrong, I knew she would catch it and know how to handle it. Her knowledge, experience, and bed-side manner (compassion) are outstanding. I've delivered 3 babies with her between 2003 and 2007. I traveled over 4 hours with the last one to see her. Every time I've gone in she knew the names of my previous babies and asked me how they're doing. I can't say enough great things about her to my friends and family. I refer women to her all the time--my sister was very happy with her as well. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Dr. Messer for being who you are. I am done having babies but will always have a very grateful heart towards you for making my baby-having years so wonderful.

I was very lucky and blessed to have Dr. Shelly Messer as my OB/GYN. I searched everywhere for a great physician and found nobody that I felt qualified to deliver my precious baby. Then my husband suggested Dr. Shelly Messer, as he had heard great things about her. Of course I said, yes, and was excited that she would care for the baby and I. Dr. Messer is very knowledgable, compassionate, happy and caring. She took to the time to discuss important issues of medical care with me and guided me through the entire process. You will love Dr. Messer and will be blessed to have her as your physician too.

The downfall was every time I went for my visit, the back office staff tried to push me to see Dr. Balero instead of Dr. Messer. I stood my ground with the staff and explained to them at each visit that Dr. Messer is my physician and SHE would be the physician delivering my baby. I was very determined to have Dr. Messer as my physician since she was highly recommended. As it turns out, Dr. Balero is no longer at Oasis OB/GYN, nor is the staff that tried to intimidate me into having Dr. Balero deliver my baby.

As they say, the Lord works in mysterious ways.

Dr. Shelly Messer is AWESOME!! She took the time to guide me through my pregnancies stressing the importance of good nutrition, appropriate exercise, adequate rest, medication alternatives, work schedules, what to expect during each trimesters, delivery and care after the delivery. In addition, she addressed my concerns of delivering a baby after 35 years old, which has certain risks in and of itself. Together we delivered two beautiful, healthy and strong babies. One boy, one girl.

I think about Dr. Messer on each of their birthdays and every Mother's Day because she was such a blessing to our family. Dr. Messer's demeanor is warm, positive, calm, compassionate, personable and very professional. I would highly recommend Dr. Messer to deliver your babies, as she did for me. You should know that I traveled over 80 miles for each Dr visit to have Dr. Messer deliver my babies, because I wanted the best for my children. As a parent, no task is too great when it comes to the care of your babies health. If I had it to do over again, I would make the same choice of having Dr. Messer as my OB/GYN.

I am so disappointed with the care I have received there. This is my second pregnancy with them and the only reason I stayed there this pregnancy is because I wanted Dr. Bullaro to deliver this baby as well. I work in a specialty office so I have the unique perspective of knowing what it is like to be the patient and be part of a medical staff. I have never waited less than an hour to see a provider at Oasis OB/GYN. I basically sit in the waiting room for an hour, I am taken back to a room where my seating options are either a cold metal folding chair or a flat bed that offers no back support, I wait another 15-20 minutes in the room, the doctor or NP comes in, asks me how I am feeling, listens for the babies heart beat and then leaves. My actual visit takes about 5-7 minutes. Once or twice I can understand a long wait but in two pregnancies over two year, every visit waiting that long is excessive. I understand more than you know that doctors get behind or have to leave to go to the hospital. For the most part they have accommodate my schedule to make my OB checks, which I appreciate. It is too often though that the visits have to be rescheduled and I have to take time off of work. So then I leave work to make my appointment on time, only to sit in a waiting room for an hour. This is an hour of time I am not getting paid for. If I was getting stellar care I could justify the inconvenience but I feel like I am just a nameless face. I like Dr. Messer but do not care for Dr. Stevens at all. I will be switching care to Dr. Bullaro- Anderers new office. I feel that even if I have to wait to see her past my appointment time I will at least get some care and compassion and I really don't think that is too much to ask.

I have been going to Dr Messer's office since I moved to the valley in 2005. I delivered our first son with her & my 2nd child is due in November. I really like most of the staff. The nurses have been great, I love Michelle Carnes the NP and to schedule an appointment really hasn't been too bad. They have always tried to work with my schedule as much as they could. Leanna on the other hand has been rude, short & down right nasty both pregnancy's. She told me I had to pay her my copay of $300 while I sat in the exam room waiting for the Dr. I had been in 3 times prior to that visit and she was "too busy or in a meeting" and couldn't find time to talk to me. I'm not one to keep $300 with me in my purse, nor do I carry a credit card! Oasis would benefit from a new insurance coordinator who can better explain the fee's and payments to patients!!

I started going to Oasis Ob last April when I was pregnant with my second child. I had been going to another Ob for ten years who could not get me in when I was extremely sick at 6 weeks. I called Oasis Ob and they got me in the next day! I only had one appointment with Dr. Messer however she was very pleasant and called me at home personally to go over test results. I had the majority of my appointments with Dr. Bullaro who was the best. I was even lucky enough to be able to schedule my induction with Dr. Bullaro and the labor went great! Banner Gateway was a beautiful hospital as well. If I were to have anymore children I would definately go back there again! Dr. Bullaro performed my Essure procedure 6 weeks after delivery and that was great as well! They did add a new doctor, Dr. Stephens who I did not care for and have decided that I will not make anymore appointments with her!

I met Dr Messer in the hospital for emergency surgery years ago. She was professional, knowledgeable and comforting. I moved with her to her current office as well, further from my home, because I liked her. I've been in her office alot over the last few years, and have also had a few issues with the staff, as well my daughter that also started going here too. However, the doctors and pa's are wonderful. The 'christian' atmosphere is comforting, as is the all-women doctor and pa staff. The dr that performed my surgery last year even offered to pray with me beforehand.

I have nothing but good things to said about them.
I was referred to Dr. Messer by a different Dr. I was pregnant with my second daughter, she was wonderful, i have no words to thank her for everything she did for me. I had a severe depression during the pregnancy and she was taking the time to call me at home and ask me how i was feeling, when i was on my second trimester they added dr. Bullero, i was skeptical at first, but i meet her and she was great and she was the one who delivered my baby. I love them both.

Regarding the nurse practitioners, Michelle was very good too, i hope she is doing great with her twins baby's.. Some of the other nurses were rude but it doesn't change the fact that she is a good doctor. Racist? Its just not true i don't believe that, i saw people of other races there, in fact i am Hispanic, and the pics they post on the walls are pictures that the patients send to them.

To bad i moved out of state ..

I will start out by saying I love Oasis OBGYN! I drive 45 mins- 1 hr out of my way just to see them.

When I was pregnant with my first I was really turned off by the long wait times and canceled appointments. But then you realize, someone has to deliver the babies! And wouldn't you want the Dr.'s to be there for you? They do try to accommodate you as much as they can, but they are very busy and don't necessarily have a schedule that can be predicted. I had my second child in April and they have changed their policy a little. Now, the doctors try to see you as much as possible and leave the other exams to the P.A.'s.
I can say the the office has only gotten better with the addition of Dr. DeAnna Bullaro-Anderer. I was skeptical, because I love Messer so much, but she adds just the right touch to an already awesome office.
If I had to put a con to this whole review would be that they ONLY deliver at Banner Baywood, which is way out of the way for me, but I would do it for out third, just to have Messer or Bullaro there!

It is true, Dr. Messers office is busy. If people didn't like the office then I would find it easier to call in for an appointment or be seen AT SCHEDULED TIME. Sometimes there is a price you pay for good service. I have had the pleasure of seeing both JoEllen & Dr. Messer and both are wonderful. The manager however is not very friendly. At one time she did scold a back office employee for not knowing how to schedule appts. I would recommend doing something like that be done away from patients eyes & ears.
As for the atmosphere, it is a clean nice office. The music I tune out and didn't even notice it was a Christian station. My suggestion to those not of the same religion (as myself) just bring something to help you tune it out.

I just love all the doctors at this office. I have nothing bad to say about them. However the time to get appointments stink, the office staff is rude at times, and the ultrasound lady (who I heard they fired) was a beast. She was the most unkind woman I have come across in awhile.
I don't like how long it takes to see the doctor. Since I work, it's hard to take time off work as it is, then to have my appointment cancelled or pushed back and hour is aggrevating. I have never had to deal with this at other doctor's offices as much as with this office.
I think Dr. Messer is very kind and knowledgeable, Dr. Bullaro was great at delivering my baby, and Michelle was extremely personable. Now if only they can hire a different office manager with person skills who trains her staff to deal with the public in a more personable fashion, they would get my 5 stars =)

I was appalled to read the review of someone complainging about the Christian atmosphere. I felt much more at ease with the warm surroundings and Christian radio. The station that is played is K-Love... www.klove.com... and they do two pledge drives each year. The station is listener supported, so without asking for money they would not be able to broadcast. The station asks for pledges from committed listeners who feel led by God. They recommend a donation of $40 per month which will cover 1 hour of local broadcasting. They occassionally ask business to consider a $200 per month donation as they are able. I listen to K-Love daily and have heard dozens of pledge drives. They have NEVER asked for $250 and they have NEVER implied that not sending money will result in eternity in hell. This person is obviously embellishing her story for effect. Dr. Messer also has a brother who is black, so racism is a little rediculous. Her website shows babies of every color which she has delivered. If you have a personal problem with Dr Messer's beliefs thats fine, but there is no need to lie about her to convince others she is a bible thumping racist. Dr Messer is the most loving doctor I have ever met and her staff and office are wonderful.

Just a follow-up to that psycho lady calling her a racist. I've actually been to Dr. Messer's office many times and have seen many babys (of color) on her walls. Maybe that women is the real racist and just has selective seeing, she just prefers to look at the white babies. The office staff were un-doubtly the most friendly most bubbly people i have met in my entire life, they did everything they could to make sure i was comfortable. I dont actually have much of a faith but the christian atmophere helped make me feel good about myself, and the over-all vibe. I also think that a christian radio station is gonna ask for 250 dollars from everyone and tell you that your going to hell if those demands are not met, i dont know if thats just me but that sounds really hard to beleive. (she must have selective hearing also)
i just wanted to write these things in Dr.Messer's defense because this is exactly how i feel and she is an amazing doctor. I would recomend anyone to Dr.Messer!
p.s. I've had the privelage of meeting Dr.Messer's brother who is black

First of all i don't know if she knows what shes really talking about.
To start things off Cysts DO go away and they DO come back pretty quickly, so when told that it disappeared it really did! But that doesn't mean its gone for good. Second of all you very well could of had endometrioses. Since when does being 20 mean you cant get sick, sure its more un-likely but it happens. Third of all LU pron is not a form of chemo, maybe you should look it up and find out for yourself. But you just affiliate hair loss with chemo and beleive what someone tells you. (get your facts straight)

Doctor Messer is a wonderful doctor. I had my daughter 18 months ago, delivered by Dr. Messer. During labor my daughters heart stopped several times, finally we decided to give Dr. Messer a call to come down and see what was going on. As soon as she came she went into action, rushed me into c-section and got my daughter out. If it wasn't for Dr. Messer my daughter might not be here. She did a great job on the c-section, I can barely see the scar. I trust Dr. Messer because she has proven to be a wise Dr, and more importantly a woman who is led by God. People who are upset about her displaying her religious beliefs should be thanking God because she is held accountable by God and prays about what she does before she does it. Also I would recommend for the woman who "almost died" you really should not take a vacation before getting such a serious surgery. You need to take responsibility for your part in the matter as well. Anyways thank GOD for Dr. Messer and the GOD Fearing woman that she is.

I went to Dr. Messer's office with pelvic pain, had an ultrasound, and was told I had cysts on my ovaries. I went back a month later did another ultrasound and was told that they had disappeared. I still had pelvic pain just a few weeks later. I again went back, did another ultrasound, and was told that I may have endometrioses. I'm only 20. I was told that I would be doing these shots called LU pron that would give me mood swings, hot flashes, and my hair would fall out. I didn't like they way that sounded so I went some where else and got a second opinion. The new doctor told me the shots were a type of Chemo, which I was never told at Dr. Messer's office. I was given a pelvic exam by the doctor and then scheduled a surgery to see if it was the endometrioses. Before the surgery I went on vacation and had Server pelvic pain. I went to the hospital and had an ultrasound and they found out I had a tumor on my ovary that had ruptured and I was bleeding internally. It was so bad that if we had waited any longer for surgery I would've died. They had to take my ovary and my fallopian tube. The tumor had no evidence of malignancy, thankfully. I suggest that any woman going to that office truly think about it first. Sure the office is nice, and it??s close to my house but it??s not worth going to if they don??t know what they??re doing.

The reviewer who basically called Dr. Messer a racist obviously has some issues and is most likely an athiest. Anyone can go to Dr. Messer's website at www.oasisob.com and see some of the pictures of babies she has delivered--which include all races. Dr. Messer is a fabulous doctor who cares about all her patients no matter what their race, color or religion. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

The office is nice...as long as you aren't offended by the religious scripture painted on the walls, the Christian radio station playing throughout, the crosses on display, the uptight office manager who hates her life, or the incredibly long wait. Allow at least 2 hours from your scheduled appointment before you are done. The walls displayed photos of some of the white babies she has delivered. I'm assuming she has never delivered any children of color, as none appear in the collages throughout her waiting room. I told a nurse that it made me feel uncomfortable to listen to a Christian talk-show while lying naked in stirrups and she told me she would give the feedback to Dr Messer. At one point, the radio show was asking for donations and said that if your donation is less than $250, then you may not make it into heaven. Are you kidding me? I went to this office four times total and it was the same each visit. I spoke with my primary care physician (who I have gone to for over 15 years) about Dr Messer and have been assured she will never refer another patient to her. I'm happy now that I found a professional OBGYN in Chandler who delivers babies of all races and keeps his personal beliefs to himself.

I couldn't have been more lucky to have found Dr. Messer. She lives about 2 miles from my home and the office staff is wonderful. She delivered my son 15 months ago and I've never regretted selecting her. I had a problem with one of the Nursing Assistants and Dr. Messer found out about it and then called my home to hear my side of the story! She has integrity and cares about the service her clients receive.

Similar to another review, the office waits are a bit long also but the waiting area is quite comfortable and spacious. I only actually met with Dr. Messer one time during my 9 months of visits. Towards the end of my pregnancy, she brought in Dr. Bolero-Anderer (SP?) whom I also was able to meet. Dr. Bolero-Anderer is also a female and so is the whole staff, which allows a woman to relax a bit more, I think!

I will definitely select Dr. Messer again in the future. I can only give 4 stars because of the wait time and only meeting with her once.

I started going to Dr. Messer when she was in practice with another doctor, who was my "official" OB/GYN. When Dr. Messer started her own practice, I went with her. She is that fabulous. The staff is very helpful. Her office visits are informative and timely. She delivered both my babies, and if we have more, she'll deliver those, too.

PROS: Excellent doctor, great people skills, love the staff
CONS: Can be hard to get an appointment in 1st trimester, because so popular

If you are looking for an OBGYN that makes you feel comfortable about your visits the Dr. Messer is it. I have been to many Ob's in my lifetime and she is by far the best. She came highly recommended by my sister(who works in the medical field) and now I recommend her to all my friends. As soon as you walk in you are immediately at ease. The waiting room is decorated extremely nice, very fancy furniture and decorations. Doesn't have the feel of a Doctors office waiting room. Her receptionist greets you promptly and everybody is very warm and helpful. It is a very pleasant office.

Dr. Messer and her staff are very friendly. My only complaint is the wait time. I've already sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes past my appointment, then another 45 minutes in the back, and that was just to see the nurse! Dr. Messer has called my home to explain things which was very impressive. You can tell she really loves her job.
