We have been going to Dr. Fanselau's practice for about 2 years and it is growing quite a bit. But we can usually get in with a sudden illness relatively quickly and the staff are all very nice and attentive.
The practice has many doctors, we have been asked to see other doctors in the practice if Dr. Fanselau was ill or we had to come in suddenly - that is a definite advantage. But getting camp forms signed took over a week - it gets put to the bottom of the pile.
PROS: Easy to get in - many doctors, very attentive
CONS: Practice is growing - some of the non-medical stuff isn't a priority
Totally bought into the hype when they took over the building once the pub left - but there is always a wait, the food is average and it is very expensive. The only dish worth going for are the Tacos Al Carbon - really tasty. The bar isn't bad - but pretty noisy. Only lot parking is valet and there isn't much street parking. I would go to the Taco Truck on Fair Oaks.
One of the top realtors in town, really knows her stuff. Very involved in Monrovia - involved in the Old Homes Group and Preservation issues. Easy to work with and gets the job done well and efficiently. Very informed of schools, community and safety issues. Doesn't waste your time with homes that are either outside your price range or not within your needs.
My sister has gone to Carlo for a while and gave me a gift certificate this summer. It is a very small salon, just the Owner Carlo, his assistant/receptionist and then a new stylist is renting space - maybe like an apprentice. Carlo is great with color.Your hair feels healthy, has a great shine and keeps the richness for months. He will talk a blue streak - never boring :) The cuts grow out perfectly. With kids and a hectic schedule - he gave me a cut that looks good if I do nothing but brush and let it air dry - or if I actually have time and can use the hairdryer - it looks fabulous. Love Carlo the hair guy! Totally worth the drive the San Gabriel Valley.
I love going to Mark. He has a great sense of what will look good with your facial structure, you skin tone and your lifestyle. I can usually describe something I want - or maybe just what I don't want and come out with exactly what I wanted. He books up fast - sometimes I have to book 5 or 6 weeks in advance, usually when I am leaving one appointment, I make my next one right there. He has some really early appointments - even on Saturdays - so I can get it out of the way.
PROS: Fabulous staff and always great results
CONS: So hard to get appointments - reschedule or late
Once I stopped working and had time to be part of a co-op preschool - I was able to send my youngest daughter to Sierra Madre Community Nursery School. This school is such a wonderful place for kids to come and just be kids. My daughter only went for a year when she was 3 - but she could have attended until she finishd kindergarten. It has a great staff and the parents you meet are amazing. Three years since we have been there - and we still know so many of them. The time committment is serious - so ifyou don't want to put in the time outlined by the staff - you shouldn't send you child. (The financial penalties for failing to help can be steep - I found out the hard way). The annual carnival is the main event - during spring with food, games and an auction. The Halloween festival is so sweet - bobbing for apples, hay bales all around, have your picture taken, play some games and crafts for them - such a great place to be a kid.
Both my daughters attended ASCC as preschoolers and it was a great place. The staff was creative, attentive and very professional. The activities ranged from a Stone Soup Potluck, a walking trip, art projects to playtime or crafts. Very inclusive - and welcoming. The Center accepts babies to 5 year olds. All classes are age appropriate with games and play equipment to fit their level. It is on the high end for all day child care - but you get you pay for. It is a really high quality center.
Brian and his staff are very good. He have hired them for several jobs - along with my parents. He rewired their entire home, he set up an attic fan for us - does a great job. He has a lot of work - but it is worth the wait of having it done right and done well.
Paul is the best. Just great - he has done work for us, my parents, my sister - any chance I get, I would recommend him. His work on interiors and exteriors is great - good attention to details and the prep work, uses quality paints and materials and prompt. When he says he will be there - he's there. Also - will fix a door lock if he notices it's busted or loose. Very conscientious - good guy.
Both times we ate here - I expected so much more. It has been in Monrovia forever - so many people brag about the food. But it is just so bland. I can get spicier Kung Pao at the Panda Express. The service is good and the food is fresh - just kinda blah. Nothing to write home about...unless you like bland food I guess.
