I love this place when it comes to drinks, cool older and experienced bartenders, and atmosphere. I just wish Marty and Elaine would take a longer break and would take more days off. You can only take so much, really!
I love Buca's. I've been to the one in Pasadena several times and despite the fact that they are always over run with people their customer service is always tops. The Buca's in Claremont is another story. We've been there twice and both times we've had terrible service. The first time we were seated at a terrible table where one of our party was literally in the middle of a walkway. She had to move everytime someone walked by and they ignored us. It took them more than 20 minutes to ask us for our drinks. It took them another 20 minutes to come back and ask us for our food orders. We fervently tried to get their attention for some water, but we weren't successful. We gave a poor tip for poor service, although we should have left none. The second time we were there they said they would have our table in 10 minutes. 25 minutes went by and someone asked us if we'd been helped. This was when we walked out. It's one thing if they were busy cleaning our table, but the staff was hanging with the hostess complaining
PROS: Delicious food. This is a chain so you can get the food at any Buca Di Beppo's.
CONS: Customer Service and Unprofessionalism
I just came from Crazy Gideon's. It is located in a very seedy part of downtown Los Angeles where you wouldn't dream of being in the dark. As soon as I walked in I was asked by a nice man what I was looking for. I was in the market for car stereo and I told him so. He took me to the area and told me the best low price car stereo is American Car something. He quoted me $53.00, but had to get his manager to sign off on the price he quoted me. The manager wasn't happy and told him to stop trying to cheat him. This all seemed like a good cop bad cop routine, but I went along with it since I am selling the car. They promise low prices on quality items. I will agree on the low prices, but not on the quality of their items. The stereo is quite, well.... ugly. As I am driving through town the radio comes in and out. This was never a problem with my old radio. They will only offer store credit and no cash back. Big surprise! I mean what did I expect right? I suppose it was a social experiment and a lesson in f
Went on a friend's recommendation. This store originated in Europe and had a soap called dirt (I know), that apparently is very popular. The employee helped me find something similar to it for my friend's Christmas present. She was very nice and helpful. It's better to buy a large piece and have them cut it into pieces. It'll stay fresh longer.
I love the smell of old books. As a student I have found several philosophy and political text books here at lower prices than at the University. They also buy back used books. At one point they sold old vinyl records as well. It used to have a bamboo fountain inside. I think the original owners sold the store to some younger people. I liked it better then.
I love Mao's! This has been the only somewhat inexpensive chinese food place that I have found in LA. I wish I could find some good take out on the east side. Anyhow....I've been going to Mao's for 4 years and it has grown in popularity. It's hard to get a table some nights so there's a community table that you can share with others. It's so Venice! Excellent food. Good KungPao Chicken and Orange Ginger chicken. There is a choice of protein and vegetarian options for all items. Love it!
I used to go to this bar every weekend for a year and a half. The only reason I stopped going was because the only time I went without my boyfriend they cheated me! I went with my cousin (female as well.) They overcharged us for our drinks and were totally rude! It wasn't like I wasn't tipping the guy either. My boyfriend was extra generous with the bartender every weekend when we used to go. Niether of us have gone back since.
My primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Snyder's office. The staff are really friendly. Dr. Snyder has excellent bedside manner and was very tolerant to all of my annoying questions. He used visual aids to help me understand what was wrong with my feet. He was very gentle and it didn't hurt despite the fact that he was using a scalpel.
