I had been looking for months to get my hair straightened and could not find a place that would do it for under $500. While passing through Chinatown, I found this place and they did it for $150! It took 5 hours and three people were working on me, so it was a bargaiin considering just the labor involved. My hair ended up looking amazing, the best in my entire life. And it's lasted. I strongly recommend the hot oil treatment, too!
PROS: Cheap and Great Quality
This place offers dental service for a fraction of what it costs at a private dentist. Dental students work on you but all of the work is looked over by a certified dentist. In my opinion, they tend to do a better job since the work is graded. It wascheaper to get dental work done here, without insurance, than it was to go to a private dentist with insurance. They have different clinics but try to get into the AGD clinic for general work as they are the most professional.
They offer a variety of women's health services at low or no cost. But, I strongly suggest that you give a donation when you see how much similar services costs at private centers. The staff is friendly and the doctors are not at all intimidating. Sometimes they have to deal with red tape so be patient.
They are very flexible in scheduling and you don't have to wait an hour before they call your name. Graduate students assist in your exams, but everything is double checked by a doctor. The cost is much cheaper than a standard optometrist. They also don't pressure you to buy glasses and products from them.
If you want to be connected to the world through TV, you almost have no choice but to pay for cable, especially if an antenna doesn't do anything for you. They are expensive, about $45/month, but ask them about specials. Sometimes they say they have nothing but say that a neighbor mentioned something to you about them getting a discount, then they'll tell you. For only $15/month you can get just the basic channels.
I have never had a bad dish here and the portions are big enough to share. The shrimp fried rice and spring rolls are a must. I would be surprised if anyone spent more than $10 here. If you get a group, convince them to splurge on the pre-set dinners.
They always have a great contemporary arts show in addition to live art programs. They are very cheap, so check their website for free and half-price days. Their parties are always worth checking out and worth getting a membership for.
Super cheap and super good! All of their noodle dishes are great and their noodle soups are perfect for a cold day. The wok-tossed edamame are a must! And they always have fresh juice in unique flavors like watermelon. Almost every dish can be made vegetarian.
Trader Joe's has a ton of unique and healthy food options. The frozen food is exquisite and I have never had a bad dish. They tend be out of stock of many items. I think weekdays are the best as weekends and evenings tend to be crowded.
This is a great place for standard American food. The decor is retro 50's and each table has a jukebox. There is one location that is open 24 hours. There is a decent amount of vegetarian options.
