I feel that Jiffy Lube is rather high on its prices for automobile servicing. Also, the employees are always trying to "encourage" a person to get other things done on a vehicle, to get one to spend more money. I felt they were high pressuring me because of the fact I'm a woman and they saw me coming, so to speak! I have found other, less expensive places to deal with.
PROS: Close to home
CONS: Quite expensive; high pressure sales tactics
This office supply store has a great selection of merchandise. An additional reason I really like this store is that they offer free reams of recycled printer paper for each empty ink cartridge a person brings in to the store. I get free printer paper, as well as getting rid of used cartridges. Sales people are friendly and helpful. This is a great place to shop!
PROS: The great recycling program
CONS: For self-printing, the big copiers are difficult to use.
This is a very efficient glass replacement company and will even come to a person's residence to replace glass (in my case it was a shattered car window). They have very courteous sales people and do excellent work. I was very impressed with their professionalism ane efficient manner in which they handled all the paperwork. A great company to work with!
PROS: Decent prices, will go to one's home
CONS: Sometimes hard to reach by phone
My 17 year old son had to get a hair cut for a school play he was in so decided to go to Great Clips on East Euclid. Well, needless to say, the stylist who did his cut didn't even ask how he wanted his hair cut.....but did it the way SHE wanted it to look. She wasn't all that friendly, and when my son and husband got home, they were both upset. They felt the hair cut was not worth the money and so will never go back to this particular salon.
PROS: Very close to home
CONS: Stylist didn't ask how the young man wanted his hair cut/styled.
If this store doesn't have what a person wants/is looking for in scrapbooking, then it probably doesn't exist! This is a fascinating place to shop for those who are "into" scrapbooking and rubber stamping. They have anything and everything imaginable that a person could ever want to really get "into" these hobbies and even offer numerous classes in lots of different areas. I love this store, for its huge selection of merchandise and reasonable prices, as well as very friendly sales staff!
PROS: Best selection of scrapbooking and rubber stamping merchandise
CONS: Quite a ways from my house; a bit difficult to get to; parking not the best
Barnes & Noble is one of my favorite bookstores. This particular one is huge, consisting of two floors, the top accessible by escalators. This book store carries every book/topic imaginable, with mass selections. It also has an excellent music/movie department. The coffee shop is great and offers a nice selection of flavored coffees, teas, and other drinks, as well as some fancy desserts. I think it's great that Barnes & Noble provides several comfortable sofas, overstuffed chairs, and benches for customers to relax and read or check out their interests. I really could live at this store! Customer service is great, also!
PROS: Comfortable, relaxing sofas, chairs, & benches; great coffee shop
CONS: Quite a ways to have to drive from my house.
Wellspring is a rather new Christian Bookstore, which used to be located in downtown Des Moines but relocated to Urbandale. It is a beautiful store, with fantastic lighting, soft music, and even has a small coffee shop/restaurant. All merchandise is displayed in a very colorful, relaxing manner and with lots of room to move about easily throughout the store. I was really impressed with the huge selection of Christian merchandise carried by this Christian store and just wish I lived closer so I could shop there more often. It's a long drive from my house and would be very difficult to access for those without transportation.
PROS: Beautiful store, great display of merchandise, huge parking lot
CONS: A long ways to drive; it would be difficult to get to for those without car
I really have not been impressed with this used bookstore. I have shopped there numerous times and have even tried to sell some of my used books there.....they offered me practically nothing so I took the books back home and left. I found this store extremely cluttered, difficult to move about, and it was hard to find any sales people to help with questions I had. Some of the books they were selling were in poor condition, and I would not buy them. Personally, I don't shop there anymore and prefer other name brand book stores.
PROS: Big selection of books, mostly used
CONS: Too much merchandise crammed together; hard to move about.
The book store at Des Moines Area Community College has a great selection of college supplies, as well as all of the necessary textbooks, workbooks, etc. for classes. There is a nice selection of collegiate clothing offered for sale, as well, in addition to other merchandise geared towards college students. The book store does offer some used textbooks; however, the new books seem to be rather expensive. Most prices seem to be reasonable for other merchandise.
PROS: Excellent selection of college supplies/merchandise
CONS: The next textbooks are rather expensive; not enough used books.
This is a wonderful Christian bookstore, with a very nice selection of merchandise. I've shopped at this store several times and have always found what I was looking for. The sales people are always friendly, outgoing and helpful and make each and every customer feel welcome and important. I did feel, however, that there wasn't really enough room to move around in. The aisles should/could be wider so it would be easier to move about. Prices are reasonable, and they often have sales.
PROS: Great selection of Christian merchandise
CONS: Aisles too narrow, difficult to move about easily
