Hao Wei has been our family's favorite place to go for Chinese food for a few years now. We love their menu, especially the Mongolian Chicken, Homestyle Tofu, and the crab cheese wontons. So far, nothing we've tried hasn't been, at the worst, tasty! Be sure to grab a takeout menu, which has good coupons attached.
I bought a car from this dealership, and I liked the buying part. -The salespeople were nice and not at all pushy. However, I have had my car serviced here and am not thrilled with the work. One problem was allegedly fixed, but the noise that I originally complained about never went away. When I brought this to the Service Dept.'s attention, I was told that it had not been fixed, and that I'd need to bring my car in again. -It's all under warranty, but what a pain to bring in the car and sit for a few hours while they fix it again!
I've really enjoyed the Botanic Gardens, as a visitor and as an educator. -They have a variety of specialty gardens, like the Japanese Garden and Monet Garden. Kids can enjoy their own Secret Path, and they can check out interactive backpack kits that teach them about bugs and plants. A tropical conservatory offers visitors the opportunity to walk through what feels like a rainforest here in arid Colorado! The DBC hosts annual events like cactus and orchid shows. It's a fun place to visit!
This is a small museum, but the exhibits always seem to make a big impression. They've had exhibits on Frida Kahlo, Corridos, Mexican beverages, and Mayan ballgames. -Really interesting stuff that you might not expect to learn about! The gift shop is cozy and filled with items that you'll want to redecorate with. This museum is a great place to spend an hour or two!
This is a really great museum. Dinosaurs roam throughout its spacious building, realistic dioramas (including bird poop on bushes!) take you to another time, and Egyptian mummies teach you that the dead tell secrets...
In addition to the amazing exhibits, the museum has an IMAX theater and a new planetarium. Parking is free, but I'd pay to park for this museum!
The Denver Firefighters Museum is a really interesting little place for people of all ages. -There are artifacts, including photos and documents, that chronicle firefighting from the mid 1800's 'til now. There are also educational programs, and hands-on activities. My nieces and my friends have enjoyed this museum equally!
I'm relatively new to this practice, but I've been happy with the pediatricians so far! When my daughter was sick, they got me in immediately, which obviously sat well with me! The office staff is very nice, as are the nurses.
PROS: Friendly doctors and staff.
CONS: No sick child entrance.
Thanks to 9/11, it's not as easy to tour the Denver Mint. Still, you can go to the Mint Monday thru Friday and reserve a space for that day's tour.
This is a rare opportunity to see exactly how money is made. Visitors learn how this money factory churns out between 14 and 20 billion coins each year! The gift shop allows you to spend your money to buy more money...what a novel idea! The mint is an interesting diversion from traditional Denver tours.
PROS: Unique opportunity to see how coins are created
CONS: No on-site parking, but many lots nearby
Wits End in Westminster is a good start to an evening out, or the ideal hangout for when you want to do something, but don't want to get all clubbed-out.
The club is small but comfortable, and offers drinks and a decent menu. The club currently has a few nationally-known comics and a mime (?) on its schedule. We've gone a few times, and enjoyed ourselves, although our sides were never sore from laughing too hard.
Yes, you can just go to the store and buy your own Coors, but why not go to the source? Tour the Coors Brewery, nestled in the mountains in scenic Golden, CO, and learn about the process of malting, brewing, and packaging of Coors beer. The tour (along with beer tasting) takes about an hour and a half. No large bags or backpacks are allowed, and IDs are required if you plan to partake in a sample. This is a great tour for locals and visitors alike!
