San Diego, CA
Aqua Tech Dive Center is a very well known and reputable business in San Diego. They provide sales, rentals and diving certifications of all levels. Unfortunately, my experience with them has always left me feeling a little unsettled. Every time I've been there, I've had to wait for lengthy periods of time for the counter person to get off the phone or finish with other customers; there are rarely ever times when there's more than one person working. Also, they seem to cater only to men, with too much of their merchandise geared towards large men, assuming that women don't also SCUBA dive. The last time I was there, I was looking for Sea Bands, which normally sell for about five bucks, and the only ones they were selling were electronic (???) for a rediculous price (over $50.00). If you're a big man, this store is for you, otherwise, go somewhere else.
PROS: Lots of inventory
CONS: High prices, severly male-oriented
I have been a loyal customer of SCUBA San Diego since I moved to California. I started taking dive classes for certifications with them and ended up going on guided dives, snorkles and kayak tours of the La Jolla Ecological Preserve. The tour guides offer something unique on every tour; a lesson in wildlife, ecology, history and a little humor. They were great! They even caught a shark and a ray for us to pet during our snorkle, which I just couldn't believe. They offer both a vacation memento and the lessons towards SCUBA certification for a lifelong hobby.
The Whole Body Department Team Members are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and listen patiently to all and any questions, ailments and general health concerns one may have. Some of them even hold degrees in Public Health, so their knowledge usually far exceeds any expectations one may have.
