Oak Run Manor

My family has lived at Oak Run since Fall of 2003, when we moved here with our 3 kids. After a few years, the kids moved out and we wanted a smaller place, so moved to a 2 bedroom apartment here at Oak Run. And we are still here, almost 7 years later.

The complex is well maintained, very beautifully landscaped and has plenty of parking. The pool is well maintained as are common areas, such as the playground and mailboxes.

The office staff is courteous and professional and I have never had any complaints about how I was treated by them. (I must say, that we try to be excellent.)

Our apartment is roomy enough for us, and we have managed to make it feel like home, instead of "just an apartment." Any time we have called for any type of maintenance, it has been handled quickly and efficiently.

Choice Meat Market

Excellent meat market! We have been going here for years. The meats are fresh, reasonably priced and you can have cut to order. The special packages are great deals and when they have a sale, the prices can't be beat!

The service is fantastic, too!

Angel Animal Hospital

We have been going to the same vet for many, many years and loved him. Recently, our 13 year old cat developed what the vet thought was an abscessed tooth and he did not do dental work, so he recommmended a vet that did. That vet was quite a distance from our home, so I started looking for someone closer.

I found the excellent reviews of Angel Animal Hospital here, so called and since Dr. Gotcher does dental work, I made an appointment. He, and all the staff that I met were great! Dr. Gotcher explained all that he recommended, ranked everything by importance at my request and even told me approximate costs. When making the appointment to come back for the work to be done, I was given a detailed breakdown and the exact cost of everything.

After the dental work was done, the staff was so great with our Oreo but Dr. Gotcher was concerned that the abscess was not the only problem. After some testing it was determined that our cat has a tumor. Dr. Gotcher was so wonderful, explaining all the results, telling us our options and he had even consulted with an oncologist before discussing it all with me.

Though we decided not to treat and to just put our cat to sleep when he gets to the point that he acts like he is in pain, Dr. Gotcher has been wonderful, telling me he would be there if we needed him.

While I loved the vet we have used for years, Dr. Gotcher has definitely earned himself a customer for life. Our 2 other cats will be seeing him from now on.

Ahloo Chinese Cafe

If you are looking for a cheap Chinese dinner, this is the place. The food is made very fast, so you can order at the drive through, eat inside...though it is small, or order from home to pick up. The food is made after you order, so always fresh. We love everything on the menu and with their Manager's specials and combination plates, hubby and I can take home dinner for under $10. And I always have leftovers as the portions are very generous. Most all of the standard Chinese dishes available.

Thrift Town

We visited this thrift store while on vacation and really liked it. The selection was very good. As with most resale/thrift stores, you have to dig. We did for a couple of hours and found some really nice treasures. The prices were very good, in our opinion. MY hubby was thrilled to get a London Fog lined trench coat for only $12! Parking was pretty good....we were there on a weekday though, so don't know what it would be like on a weekend.

Assistance League Of Austin

We visited this store on a recent vacation and it is really big and has a really nice selection and geat variety. But the prices are higher than we expected to find in a "thrift store". We did find a few things we couldn't pass up, though. Really clean and very nice staff.

Hermann Park

My family really loves Hermann Park! We can go spend the day, find a nice place to picnic and just hang out all day. Or picnic, then head over to one of the many museums located nearby. The park is a haven where you can escape hectic city life and you can just relax your stresses away there. Of course, it is much less crowded on weekdays than on weekends.

Lane Bryant

Yes, I am a plus size girl and I love shopping Lane Bryant. No muumuus here. They have nice, fashionable clothing and accessories in extended sizes, so we big girls can be fashionable, too. And they have gorgeous lingerie! This location is so nice, well maintained and well stocked. Parking is pretty easy and the staff is knowledgable, courteous and so helpful.

Dots Fashions

My daughter loves Dots for the cute, trendy clothes. She is a college student on a limited budget, so really likes to shop where she can stretch a dollar. She find clothes she likes and really enjoys the friendly sales staff. Sure, you can find better quality clothes at other stores, but trends don't last forever, so really trendy stuff doesn't have to be the highest quality.

Pasadena Eye Associates

I went to Pasadena Eye Associates for vision treatment for years. I recently changed eye centers due to insurance changes, but really liked Pasadena Eye Associates. The doctors are thorough and really take good care of you, making sure you get exactly the right prescription for you. They do take longer than some places because the exams are so thorough.
