This store is located in the Von's shopping plaza. I went here just out of sheer convenience and was very happy with the service I received. The store sells jewelry and watches, but it also does watch repair which is what I went in for. I needed the face of my watch replaced due to many years of scratching. They gave me an estimate which was very fairly priced and it only took them a couple of days to get it done. I was very happy with the customer service and timely repair. I would definitely go back.
You can tell I spend a lot of time at Seaport Village... it's a great place to bring the kids to enjoy the outdoors... The Sally Huss Gallery is a cute store. It's typical of a store that you think you would find in a touristy place like the village. When you walk in you can tell that it is definitely a happy place. The artist (Sally Huss) uses very bright colors and happy scenes. She has cute little sayings that can be found on just about everything... magnets, books, shirts, pens, etc... They staff was friendly and if your looking for a gift or a souvenir I think it would be a nice store to look into.
If you are looking for a unique gift for a child or for your own children, this store is a great find. It is reminiscent of an old-school toy shop if you ask me... it's very creative and the toys are one-of-a-kind. The young lady who helped me out was very kind and energetic. You will really be impressed with this store... however, they are a bit pricey. You will find great wooden toys from rocking horses to bookends and everything in between. You will have no problem finding toys here for little boys, as well as little girls...and they will personalize anything and everything. I bought a growthstick chart and had my daughter's name put on it and it came out absolutely adorable!
This store is located in Seaport Village... it's a small hole-in-the-wall shop but it is fully packed with a million mugs... everything you can think of on a mug is there...they also have large mugs and mugs that are shaped differently. I just popped in there one day to browse, but it was not too long after that I returned to purchase a personalized mug for a gift. They have many themed mugs, but they will also customize a mug for you and you get to choose the font that it's in... it turned out very cute...it's great for unique names that are hard to find on personalized items and it's done right there :-)
The Toy Cottage is a whimsical store that is quite different from your traditional toy store. It's located in the Seaport Village and is an awesome place to find something different for a child. They sell very unique toys that you wouldn't find everywhere... so it makes a great place to buy a gift for a child that you feel already has everything... the toys there are definitely memorable ones. Everytime I've gone here the staff has always been super friendly... even if we are just stopping in to browse and look at the cool toys (which we do often since we love to walk around the village for fun!) they are always very kind! They are a little expensive, but it is not too much and not too surprising for their location and the uniqueness of the product. Very cute!!
If you are looking for fresh and healthy... this is a great restaurant. The menu is surprisingly very big with lots of variety....from chicken, soups, ostrich!!!!, salads to desserts!!! The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. The best part is that they have a nutrition sheet available for you that shares all of the information you would want reagarding what you are eating... fat, fiber, calories, etc... It's great to be able to pick up 'fast' food that is actually good for you. If you get there right at lunch time, it get's pretty packed.
Harry's is a great place to head to when you wake up in the morning. It's a traditional diner, yet it also has great seating out on the front patio. They make super delicious breakfast - try any of their omelettes... yum! And they have so many different varieties! You can get a ton of more things, too.. waffles, fruit, oatmeal, etc... They also serve lunch, but I've never been there during the afternoon. Their menu is endless and there is definitely something for everyone. We go here for breakfast everytime we have company over... it's a tradition and has been around forever. It can get crowded though, so expect a wait unless you get there early!
If you are visiting the area you've got to stop by the LJ shell shop. They have turned part of it into a museum that reflects the area's history and you can also buy neat little ocean trinkets. They have a coffee bar set up where you can get you a nice latte and tasty treat...but the best part is paying the small fee (a couple of bucks) and walking down the stairs through the cave below the store... what an awesome trip it is! But it's not for the weak at heart... it is quite a journey down and even a greater one going back up. There can be water dripping in there too, which can make for some slippery steps.. .but it is too cool once you get down there. This shop is a great place to visit, it's old, quaint and super neat!
If you are down in La Jolla Shores, you need to stop by this little hole in the wall deli. It's tiny and easy to miss so you have to keep your eyes open. The folks behind the counter are always super nice and easy going. They make big deli sandwiches and the prices are really good. You will really be impressed with the meat and cheese, it's delicious. They've got a zillion cheeses (of course) and you are always welcome to try them before buying. They've got fridges full of different drinks and chips/candy. A great little place to grab a bite to eat before or after the beach!
This is a great little sew/vacuum store in Clairemont located in the Square. The ladies that work here are always very friendly and extremely helpful. I have taken my sewing machine here for a little tune-up and they serviced it in a timely manner. I also frequent this place to get all the parts for my upright vacuum cleaner. They carry bags, belts for many makes... I have never taken advantage of their classes, but I know they offer how to classes in sewing, knitting, etc...
