This liquor store is a great place to try out new wines and not pay a fortune. They sell mostly overstok from other stores and have weekly specials where you can get a decent bottle of wine for three or four dollars. We have been pleasantly surprised to find several good wines there and we have been anle to stock up on them when they were available. The store has a warehouse feel to it, but the staff is great at helping you pick out wine (and cart it to your car). Good value.
This tiny little nursery wedged in a strip mall has had some real staying power. I think this is because of the wide variety of silk plants it offers and also the volume of seasonal items. We have always had good luck getting mums, poinsetta, and bulbs here, but not as good a time getting annuals and the like. The staff is friendly, but I woudl not say super knowledgable, and the greehouse is crowded so it can be hard to negotiate. we do go back time after time for our holiday plants, though, so they are doing somethign right.
If you like to go to farmer's markets to get your produce, this is a great year-round shop. An actual farm, it also imports produce from other local farms and sells it at a good price. Everythign just looks and tastes fresher than the supermarket, plus you can get items like fresh baked pies and cookies. We love to stop in here and just wander aruond - everythign smells so good.
Sign of the Times is a great place to find novelty tee shirts, pins, and bumper stickers. This is the one place outside of New York city to find the hippest stuff with current slogans and "in" pics. You can actualy be in style without spending a fortune. Also, this store has a great selection of gag gifts and fun cards and paper to meet every occasion. Definitely a fun place to shop.
This is your average pet store, with maybe a little less space than most (except for those you find in malls). They do sell a wide variety of pets, including fish and birds, but also cats and dogs, which makes me a little sad. The pets do not seem to have a ton of space to run around in, and many of them (especially the birds) seem a bit sickly. The whole place is cramped and dark and smells of musty animal scent. We have had good luck finding unusual pet products there, but we generally try to avoid this store.
i have never used another body shop because Rick is just so good. While most mechanics make you feel liek you are gettign cheated, Rick really gives you a feeling of comfort. He does nost of the work himself or closelt oversees all the work that is done. His estimates are dead on and there are never a lot of extra charges. The facility itself is pleasant, and I have never had to wait long there. When he promises the car will be done on a certain day, it is. Nuff said.
This is your basic locksmith and he does the job of a basic locksmith well. He makes keys, and he makes them fast and cheap. He can install a new lock on your door, without doing any damage, and be in and out in an hour. It is easy to schedule time with him and he does not cost a fortune. The main locksmith is a little gruff, but he knows what he is doing so it is worth it.
Although it bills itself as a one hour photo (which it does fine), what this little shop really has to offer is a range of neat photo services. The owner knows a LOT about photography, and is happy to chat with you about what film to use, what camera to buy, or how to develop pictures on your own. We had him restore several older photos and were thrille dat teh work that was done on them. My father-in-law also had several super 8 films converted to VHS and was quite pleased.
Captain video is a great place to go if you need your photos in a hurry. The quality is much better than the one hour service that you get at a pharmacy or discount store, and the machines do not seem to break down as often, either. The staff there really knows about photos, it is not somethign that the do on the side. I have been really happy with the pictures I have gotten there, and I have never had to wait when I arrived to pick them up.
I like this florist because I feel like I can trust it. I have sent several bouquets over the phone to my grandmother who lives in Pearl River, and they have all been beautiful. Pearl River florist does not stuff the bouquests with cheap flowers or take advantage because you are not in the area to do quality control. Plus, the deliveries have all been very prompt and friendly. The few times I have been in the store, it has been very pleasant, and the staff has been very courteous.
