The Spanish Village Art Center is a rare find in our country today. Trained artists and craftsmen undertake many traditional art forms, like wood-carving, ceramics, and jewelry making.Customers can speak with the artist abou their craft as each runs their own store while doing their craft. It's a great place to go during your walk through the park to see the beautiful artwork. Also, if you need souvenirs or gifts, you can find lovely hand crafted items. They tend to be a little pricy as everything is done by hand, but quality is a guarantee.
The Hall of Champions has some cool sports memorabilia, but is not the most exciting museum in balboa park. It is average in size and it does not take long to walk through both levels. However, the variety of sports is wide. It covers sports ranging from football and baseball to surfing and bass fishing. It is a good place to stop on free Tuesdays.
Balboa Park has so many attractions and fun activities that will keep you coming back. Enjoy the open grassy areas for picnics, sports, and other recreational activities. Great place to go on a run or read book. Also, don't forget to journey into the heart of the park where the plethora of things to do is neverending. Museums, theatres, restaurants, and even the zoo. If your a tourist, leave lots of time in your agenda for the park. It could take days to see everything.
The Automotive Museum consists of a large auditorium with cars parked in it. For car lover's, this would make great stop during your tour in the park. It has some cool old cars and parts on display, along with some more recent vehicles. However, it's not worth paying admission for. Go on free Tuesdays and save the dough because your not likely to spend a long time there.
This neat museum teaches visitors about the history and science of airplanes using unique displays that utilize artifacts ranging from the very conception of the airplane. A walk through history takes visitors from the Wright Brothers to the present state of the airplane. The Aerospace museum provides a fun learning experience for everyone.
Science fun zone for kids. The Science Center in Balboa Park was created specifically for kids. Children can go wild at the center with exciting experiments and games that teach them about many different scientific areas, and more generally how the world works. Great place for school field trips or just to take your kids.
The Natural History Museum in Balboa park offers a look at San Diego's distant and more recent past. It provides a prehistoric look at the fossils that once gave life to a world of creatures unknown to us today. It teaches about Southern California's wilderness, from plants to animals, and about the threats that humanity poses to nature. Keep an eye out for innovative and captivating temporary exhibits, like the recent Chocolate exhibit.
This museum is more like an amusement park for men who like model trains. It consists of a large space with tracks, scenery and model trains driving around. You follow a walkway that weaves you through the tracks where you can watch the little trains in action. This is not a museum that teaches you anything at all about the railroads or their history. It simply allows you watch trains move around the room. This is not how I would define a museum.
Though relatively small in size, the San Diego Museum of Art has a solid collection that ranges from medieval to post-modern art. The collections are rotated frequently so that you can always see something new and the temporary exhibits excel in quality, theme, and complexity. A trip to this museum can easily consume a large part of the day despite its size, so make a day trip out of it and if you have extra time you can visit some of the other great museums in the park.
What an amazing school! It is rare to find a place in the United States that values language acquisition in children's education. This school teaches students in German and English from kindergarten on up. They acquire the benefits of a bilingual education that will improve their intellectual development and put them way ahead on the job market in the future. Additionally, each child matters and gets special attention in this small, yet cozy community.
