Frederic Fekkai Beaute de Provence Salon
Despite the pneumatic title, these guys actually take walk ins for cut and color. They also have spa services, but for these you'll have to make an appointment. I have been using their products for years, and I couldn't be happier. They specialize in colored or treated hair, and their stylists are always happy to give you an evaluation so you get the haircut and color that best fits your shape and skin tone. Trust me, you don't always know what's best for you when it comes to your hair!
Goodwill
You'll be very surprised at the things people give to the Goodwill. For a very low price, you can find high quality trend or vintage items. This is also a good place to donate those clothes and shoes you don't wear anymore. I would have never thought to shop at the Goodwill, but now everytime I see one I stop to check it out.
Guess Incorporated
Don't let the fact that Paris Hilton endorses this store turn you away. They always have really good sales, and because things go out of style as each issue of In Style arrives - you won't have to wait long for that new look to cost a lot less. They range from the very sophisticated to the club scene 'barely there', and you'll love their shoes and accessories. The clothes have a lot of detail, and use high quality fabric.
Arden B
This store is always divided by color, so hopefully that's how you like to shop. This store has gotten a little more trendy over the years, but it still retains a look devoted to the bohemian romantic. Each season is devoted to two or three colors, so you'll know immediately if you want to browse or walk on by. their clothes are high quality but can sometimes be a little expensive. They always have a good sale rack though - that's where I look first!
Angelika Film Ctr & Cafe
This theatre only has a few screens, but it's frequently opens independent films before anyone else. You'll want to buy your tickets early. It's very close to NYU campus, so it's a hot spot for college students - especially film students. It also has a great cafe, it's one of the few movie theatres where you can enjoy a glass of wine along with your film.
SEPHORA
Being in Times Square, this place is always obnoxiously crowded. And since the store is never want for customers, the employees can pretty much ignore everyone and talk to themselves - a point which they take advantage of. Half the time they are "out of" what you want, meaning they just haven't restocked yet. Normally Sephora stores are fun because you can try on makeup and the employees help you pick stuff out or give you makeovers - it's just too crowded and unfriendly at this store for that to happen. There are a million other Sephora stores just on Broadway, so go to one of those instead!
Signature Pointe Apartments
I had to live here for two years, and while it is in a great location with grocery stores, restaurants etc. right around the corner - it wasn't worth it. Nothing ever got fixed, something was constantly broken, and the office workers were not nice people. They acted like you were an annoyance everytime you came into the office and needed them to do something, something being THEIR JOB! It was just an extremely negative environment and I would recommend checking out The Village instead.
Inwood On The Park
If you are going to be a student at Southwestern Medical School, live here. The building is literally right across the street. These apartments are barely two years old, spacious, and have amenities such as pools, fitness center, business center, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and alarms systems and maid services are available on request. The staff is extremely friendly and if anything goes wrong, it gets fixed right away. They have many different floor plans to choose from, and it's also minutes from Uptown and the West Village.
BBVA Bank
If you live in West University, this is the bank for you. The bank is right on Buffalo Speedway, and right next to the Kroger complex where you're probably already running all your other errands. There are multiple ATM machines and bank teller machines so you never have to exit your car.
Loews Theater Cityplace
This is one of my favorite multiplexes, mostly because the concessions offer ACTUAL food like pizza, chicken fingers, dippin dots, and pretzel bites. They always offer the newest blockbuster releases, and most of the time on multiple screens. The seats are comfortable, and it's clean. It's also right off oh highway 75, so it's pretty convenient to get to and the parking lot is huge.
