Premiere Video
This is the store to rent foreign films, documentaries, or those wonderfully obscure independent films. Basically, everything which stores like Blockbuster fail to have in stock. Their foreign film selection covers an entire wall and is divided by country - it's really amazing. It's the film addict's mecca of video rental.
Apple Knox Street
This store is a Mac haven, and the employees can answer any question you could fathom about their products. Not to mention the fact that their products are FANTASTIC!! Once you go Mac, you will never go back. I switched computer worlds about a year ago, and I couldn't be happier with my laptop, desktop, and my iPod. Apple stores are great because you can try out all their products before buying, and everyone is really friendly.
Half Price Books
The books are cheap, but this is my least favorite of the Half Price Book stores. Things are near impossible to find, and you literally feel like you are lost in a maze half the time. The selection is not great, but it's not bad either. I would say it's pretty vanilla. But if you happen to be in Rice Village, then I would check it out anyways.
Aggieland Credit Union
This bank only exists in College Station, so obviously I would only use it if you are a student. That said, the bank is right across from the North Side of campus and you are in and out very quickly. So if you spend most of your time on campus then I would definitely use this bank.
River Oaks Country Club
This club is near impossible to get into, but it really is a beautiful country club placed right in the heart of River Oaks. Their brunches are beyond scrumptous, and any event held here is done with expertise and class. They have pools, golf, and everything else you would want in a country club.
Houston Country Club
If you are looking for a sophisticated and ritzy place to wine, dine, and play golf - then this is your club. They host great dinners and banquets, and their ballrooms are exquisite. You'll need recommendations, and access is of course limited - but if you're new to Houston and looking for a club, then I would explore this as an option.
Everything But Water
This is really all you need to know about this place: it's too expensive, and the selection is narrow. You are much better off going to a department store, even if you want a designer bathing suit.
Origins Natural Resources
These products make great gifts, they always have nice deals on beauty packages. I have been buying mother's day presents here for years. They have all sorts of cool bath and body products, and new stuff is launched multiple times a year. They also have experts on staff to help you choose makeup colors or tell you what products are best for you. I never have a clue what I need, so I love this place!
Movie Trading Company
Forget blockbuster ... rent HERE! This is where you can buy, sell, or even trade your movies and the selection is ginormous. Yes, that's right - I said ginormous. Especiallyif you are looking to buy, you will find extreme discounts here on used movies. They don't put things on the shelf that are in any way broken, so who really cares is someone else watched it before you, eh?!
Potbelly Sandwich Shop - Old Town
It's not that this bookstore is HORRIBLE, but you will be paying a lot and the selection isn't that great unless you are looking for whatever was on Oprah's book club list or you want to hear just one more way to lose wait. Actual literature wise, and ESPECIALLY drama wise, there just isn't much beyond the extremely obvious choices.
