My husband placed a big order and was pleased with most of it. It came very quickly and everything was there. The customer service was good too. The only problem was how tiny the custom grips are. They seem too small for my hands - so his hands look goliath next to them. The prices were good and the rest of the items were such high quality that he's said he will order again and again.
This place is cool but can get really crowded on weekends. They have a full display case of jewelry, tee shirts on the walls, all kinds of smoking accessories and tattoo and piercing healing supplies. They have good artists and everyone is licensed and practices sanitary procedures - but the combination of a bad air conditioning system, the curry that the assembly of counter people and visitors were eating and this woman who smelled like a homeless person was a bit much to handle. I became nauseous. Outside of that it's a great place to get a tattoo done. They have tons of flash and will work with you on a price to meet your budget. Just avoid it in the summertime (for the smells and A/C) and you'll be ok!
Don't let the size fool you - you can and will get full service but because it is so small only one person can be tattooed or pierced at a time. This isn't a place to bring a crowd of friends but if you're alone on a Saturday night - hey - it's great. They DO insist that their artists and piercers are experienced and licensed and you can also buy some nice jewelry there. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice tattoo at a competitive price. It's a shame they lost their best artist though, MadDog was the funniest dude ever!
I've been to all of their shops and I've always been impressed. It's super clean, the flash is neatly organized, and all of the artists and piercers are friendly and knowledgeable. They do not pressure you at all. They do not treat you like potentional $$ but rather as a person who is about to affix a piece of art to their flesh - and they totally respect the amount of thought that goes into that decision! The work i've gotten there remains new and fresh looking and I recommend this shop ALL of the time. For safety, skill and so much more.
I'm a body piercer so I definitely know good work when I see it. I had my lip pierced here at the end of March 2005 and the piercer was phenominal. It was the quickest and most painless piercing I've ever had. I had no bruising, no bleeding, no swelling - it was heavenly! My husband bought a tattoo machine on the way out (he is an artist too) and it was a great night out for us! The tattoo artist portfolios are AMAZING. I was really glad we chose to go here - especially after we'd gotten bad treatment at Andromeda! I totally recommend this place!
When they had a location in Bronx on Castle Hill / Westchester Avenue I used to hang out with them and help them make crank phone calls to their Mount Vernon location. These guys are the best! The two tattoo's that I had done there were AWESOME. The ankh I have on my right ankle is 8 years old and people still ask me when I got it done and are shocked when I tell them it isn't new! The ink is still freah and bright and it's never been touched up! I've never gotten another tattoo like that in my life. The shop is kept clean and the staff is friendly and laid back. It's like visiting with family - they even used to offer me part of the food they were eating - I just loved it there. They had good prices too and most of their artists have a lot of magazine recognition. I got even better prices for helping them with their pranks! haha! I totally recommend this place!!!
The dinosaurs have me in awe - the souvenir shop has been a favorite since I was a little girl! This is the one museum that I am ALWAYS up to go to! The only drawback is the price - it's a little steep... but worth it on occasion!!
I loved it! Although it scared my son a little - some of the figures were SO life like... I half expected to see the rise and fall of their chest cavities!
If you're going with kids aged 12 and older then this will be a cool way to expose them to art. Younger children WILL be bored and may cause a little stir in the ultra quiet atmosphere - leave the kiddies at home and enjoy!
Just be VERY forth right with what you want and don't want... otherwise you'll end up with an artistically inspired nightmare cut... but if you're to the point and keep stressing KEEP THE LENGTH, just freshen the LONG layers... you should be ok!
CONS: Stylists have a mind of their own sometimes...
