Th Oakland museum has a lot of different genre's of art going on. They have lots of contemporary pieces as well as a gallery that exhibits old and new stuff. I remember I saw a "Chuck Close" exhibit and I was absolutely amazed at how real that man could paint! When I saw the paintings I wasn't sue if they were photo's or what, but anyways, great place to go, especially if you're local.
This place is a very clean, cool non intimidating pool hall and bar. I like it because at lots of other pool halls that i've been to it seems like you walk in there and it is a very intimidating vibe, but there you walk in and there's no intimidation. Just a bunch of cool people having fun. Plus the bartenders are really nice. It's open until 2 in the morning, so it's a good place to hang out.
This place will take almost anything. I mean from cars to clothes and everything in between! the st. vincent de paul thrift stores end up with lots of cool furniture. I bought my 1970's retro orange crushed velvet couch there for $60. It was a beautiful couch. Very unique, not anything you would be able to find in a store today!
I love shopping and I don't like to spend very much money. It maty sound like a commercial, but it's true. This place has some great stuff. Sometimes you really gotta shop, I'm not gonna lie, but they have a huge selection of stuff!! Plus, they have name brands there too if you look hard. Why spend more than you have to???
I have been going to this place for pizza for a long time. They always ahve great pizza and they have good deals. It's like $3 for a soda and a relatively large slice of pizza. That's is comparitively a very good price for some darn good pizza. The staff is usually pretty cool and sometimes, if it's the last slice on the board and ther's a new pizza coming out, they'll give you 2 pieces.
This is a fun place to shop, although for being used clothes, some of the stuff is overpriced. But, they have such a plethora of random findings from costumes, to jewelry to wigs and regular clothes. It's really just kind of a fun place to shop. It's in Berkeley on Telegraph and it fits there.
This paint store will mix any color that you want and the staff is very friendly!! They also have a lot of cool painting accessories including Dickies painter pants and other stuff. They also have spray paint, but it's locked up so if you want any you gotta ask for it. I would recommend this store over the one on telegrapg. The staffis more attentive and semms very knowledgeable.
Not only is the museum always something great to go look at, the store is really cool too! They have lots of art books and little tidbits and collectibles from the shows that are in the museum. They have lots of art posters too! Even if you aren't going to the museum, the store is still a really great place to look around!
The food is pretty good once you get over the other patrons who usually inhibit this place. I prefer somewhere a little cleaner, but like I said, the food is actually pretty good. It is open 24 hours a day which is cool and I believe besides Denny's it's the only cafe open 24 hours in Oakland, which is also good to know.
The Berkeley art museum is cool becaus ethey have a permanant collection of beautiful antiquiteis like ceramics that are so old it's just cool to be in their presence and imagine the history behind them! Plus they have a rotating contemporary show in the bottom space and then they have another gallery called the Matrix gallery which usually has very contemporary shows.
