Water Tower Place
Water Tower Place is located on Michigan Avenue, one of a couple of indoor malls on this street. The stores are elegant, and the mall itself is something to see. On a hot or cold day, you can duck into the mall and either refresh or warm up.
Belmonte's Florist
this florist shop has been at this location over 30 years. The store space itself is very, very small, and no showcase to speak of. However, they will show you a book with examples of their different bouquets, and will custom make to your specifications. their prices are reasonable, and deliveries are on time. I would recommend them to someone looking for quality at a good price.
Franklin Park Ice Arena
the Franklin Park park district has one of the few indoor ice skating rinks that is open all year round. It is open to the public and has group and private lessons as well as hockey. The classes are reasonably priced, and the condition of the ice is always very good.
Buckingham fountain
Buckingham fountain is one of the best free landmarks for tourists to visit in Chicago. Not only is the fountain a great destination during the daytime, but at night, the view is spectacular. The lake is in the background, and they play music and change colors to go with the changes in the music.
Flowers By Maria
I have used this flower shop for the past 2 years for a children's school show. In the past I found the quality and pricing to be exceptional. This year however, was different, after initially contacting the owner, Maria 4 months in advance, and being assured that she would again provide flowers for our June show, when I tried to contact her 3 weeks in advance, she refused to return phone calls, pretended to not be in the shop, even though I recognized her voice, and acted really strange. For a business, this type of behavior is bizarre. If she did not want to, or could not want to, supply flowers for our show, all she had to do was say so. This is not the way to conduct business.
Kiddieland Amusement Park
Kiddeland is an original. I remember my parents taking me there when I was a little girl. I have taken my son there many times and will always trteasure the memories. Even thogh most of the rides only go around in circles, they are just perfect for little ones. With the addition of larger rides several years ago, there are now rides for pre-teens and teens. The pricing is still very reasonable, and I look forward to one day bringing my grandchildren there.
Lincoln Park Zoo
this free zoo continues to be world class. Even with the recent deaths of some of the animals, this zoo continues to be a front runner in exhibits. Other zoos have patterned their exhibits on some of the ones they have here. The bird house is outstanding, and a pleasant afternoon can be spent in it alone. The great ape house is one of the first, and is always amusing.
Six Flags Great America INC
This amusement park is one of the best in the world. Although the prices are now pretty steep, for a family to enjoy a day of fun, it is well worth the trip and price. There are people from all over the world who visit it to ride the roller coasters, the shows are good, and the games are kept up to date
Gurnee Mills
I just visited gurnee mill mall, had not been there for 1 year. A lot of the stores I used to like are not longer there. The stores are mostly geared toward the pre-teen and teen markets. With the exception of a few stores, there are not a lot of stores for the mature shopper here anymore. Almost not worth the long car trip anymore.
CVS/Pharmacy
we went to this CVS shortly after they opened it. We needed to fill a prescription. Dropped it off with the pharmacist, it was for a standard antibiotic, we were told it would be a 1 hour wait, we left, when we returned 1 hour later, they still hadn't worked on our prescription, then 10 minutes later, the pharmacist told us that they didn't have the medicine. What a waste of time. I will never go back there again.
