i'm pretty bias in this review, since it doesn't take much to please me, but this particular hilton is very cool. the beds are like clouds, room service is delicious, and it's right in the heart of downtown portland. i feel like a princess, or else just a hilton. only i don't behave like paris. also, the lowest is $100. that's pretty good, considering.
PROS: great rooms, great rates
there are convenience stores on every corner, but this one is pretty bad. the block it sits on smells like garbage and pee, and panhandlers are always out front. the store is kind of dirty, with some cruddy products. i even got asked once if i knew where to score crack.
PROS: not much
CONS: everything listed above
if you have to take the bus, this is probably the best transit system in the country. as far as city buses go, they truly go everywhere. their system is completely online, and well as by phone so you can quickly find out how you get where you need to go.
PROS: goes everywhere, good timing
CONS: prices go up every year
it has everything you need for school, plus extras like portable cd players, non-school books, trinkets and clothes. they also sell art supplies. when school starts, the lines are long, but they move quickly. and don't forget, sometimes there are discounts on supplies if you flash your student ID.
PROS: great stuff, everything you need in one place
CONS: needs later hours
please, if you value anything, don't stay at this motel. it's seedy, rundown, and a bunch of lawbreakers got arrested there a few months back. it's probably cheap, but is that really enough to risk your life over? do me a favor and find someplace else. even the bate's motel has got to be better than this one.
where else can you find nordtrom stuff for bargain prices except at nordstrom rack? they have pretty much everything, not to mention a pretty good deal on shoes. they have moved recently to a larger store, and are now able to house to floors of shopping paradise.
PROS: decent prices, lots of things
CONS: gets crowded
honestly, this place is kind of a dump. the actors are small time, woefully underfunded, and the plays they choose (near as i can tell) have sometimes been written in a couple of days. but if you like watching acting just for the sake of it, or you are one of those coffee drinking all in black kerouac people, go check it out.
PROS: cheap tickets
CONS: cheap theater
krugers farm market isn't just a place to get fresh grown fruits and vegetables, but also a place to have farm fun! in the fall, they have their annual corn maze and pumpkin patch which is fun for adults and children. they also have summer concerts, and don't forget to leave with fresh food!
PROS: farms are cool
movie madness not only has a huge collection of video rentals sorted into a million different categories, but they also have movie props to see, such as the knife from psycho. if you like movies, you'll probably be there all day
PROS: very large variety of films
i will tell you; if you are really desperate to go to the movies, and don't want to go anywhere else but sw downtown, then go here. it's not much; in fact it hardly got any business before one of the other theaters shut down. it's underground, there is no stadium seating, cupholders, and sometimes the film is poor quality depending on your luck. if it weren't for that other theater, this one probably would have shut down.
PROS: it shows popular movies
CONS: if you're going to spend $7, maybe don't do it here
