After I had my daughter I developed Bell's Palsy (half my face was frozen.) I was scared, because it can be permanent. I called the Dent Neurologic Institute and they got me in as soon as they could. They were very kind to me over the phone, and the doctor was wonderful, explaining what therapies could be done if it didn't go away. She was very reassuring. Luckily it went away in a few weeks, but it was comforting to have such professional to turn to at a desperate time.
Batavia Family Care
I've never been thrilled with any of my family physicians. i've moved around a bit, so they've changed often. I didn't know what to expect here at Batavia Family Care, but i've been pleased so far with the people and the care I've received. The office could stand to be updated, but they're always able to fit me in quickly when I call for an appointment, and have helped out with samples of a prescription drug before prescribing it to me (saves cash, and helps ensure it works for you or doesn't cause side effects.) I don't always see my primary care doctor here, but they have plenty of qualified nurses who can see you for a cold or sore throat, too. I would recommend the practice to others.
Adam Miller Toy And Bicycle
It's so nice to walk into an old fashioned toy store, there aren't too many around these days. You can find some wonderful toys here you can't find anywhere else. Something unique to delight the little ones. They also sell and repair bicycles here. It's a beautiful old shop and a joy just to poke around, but you're sure to find something you simply have to get for that special kiddo in your life.
Polynesian Cultural Center
We want to go back to Oahu just to come back to this place. We did not leave ourselves enough time during our first visit to take in all the sights here. They hire people from around the world to work here. They put in demonstrations and shows in villages created to resemble ones you'd find around the Pacific. It was fascinating and beautiful. you can end your day here with a luau (costs extra.) It was delicious tropical fun. you must come here if you visit Oahu.
Brown's Berry Patch
We came here last year for the first time and we're planning a trip back this fall. It was great fun picking your own berries, pumpkins and apples. You can get a wagon to pull the kids around because you do some walking here. They have a great gift store with wonderful goodies. They have lots of activities for the kids, too, like pony rides, music and more. We all had a blast.
Statue Co
Whenever we visit the Boston area, I beg my husband to take me to the Statue Company. They make most of their statues on site and have plenty of fountains and statues of all sizes to choose from. The prices are very good compared to what you pay at a garden center. They've even sold me some broken and chipped things at a discount. I was surprised to find them open on a Sunday morning too. If you're looking for a unique touch for your yard or garden come here.
That Taco Place
when we moved to Batavia, everybody asked us if we'd been to That Taco Place. We driove by and thought, that's the Taco Place? it's just a small building with a drive through and a few picnic tables outside (i think they havea few tables inside too.) But finally we tried it and oh my! I wish we'd gone there earlier. I don't know how you could ever go to a drive through chain mexican joint after a trip to That Taco Place. I can't tell you why their burritos and other mexican items are so good, but they are. Do stop by next time you're in Batavia.
Howe Caverns
We took a trip out to New York's "leatherstocking" district and this was one of our stops. You go underground to explore the magnificent caverns and even take a boat ride on an underground lake. They have a restaurant and gift shop. You can buy a geode and watch as they cut it in half to see the beuatiful crystals inside. You can also buy a bag of rocks, and dump them in a screen over a water trough and "pan" for gems. It was a fun visit.
Spot Coffee Delaware Cafe
This is a wonderful place to grab a cup of coffee or a bite to eat and hang out with friends. I've stopped here many times after a bit of bar hopping on Chippewa. They've got comfy couches for you to relax on. They also offer desserts and sandwiches along with lots of great coffees teas and other drinks.
Alberty Drug Co
I did not realize all pharmacies are not equipped to compound drugs that need to be specially made. Alberty Drug Store in Batavia is one pharmacy that does. I had to have a special medication compounded when I was pregnant. They did it for me quickly but didn't have all the medication I needed, so they sent me along with what they made and promised to finish the order as soon as they got the rest of their supplies. They had some major problem with my insurance company and spent a long time on the phone with them working it out. They were vey patient and accomodating and I would recommend them to anyone.
