Scandia Family Fun Center
Scandia is pretty old. It really needs to be redone, but I've heard rumors they're tearing it down to build condos. That would not surprise me. I've played mini golf here. I've used the batting cages. And I've watched my friend play Dance Dance Revolution until he dropped. There aren't too many spots for mini golf in Vegas. I think this is the best one. The batting cages are standard, about ten cages in a semi-circle. The arcade is old and the food stand is pretty gross if you're over the age of twelve.
Hansen, Steven O, Md - Shepherd Eye Ctr
"What's better? One? Or Two?" That's not too hard to screw up. The optometrist was very nice. No complaints. He was pushing LASIC on me, but I kind of expected that. There was also a long wait when I went in to pick up my contacts. It struck me as ridiculous. All they had to do was hand me the lenses, and I could leave. The waiting room was packed. It seemed like everyone was waiting an awfully long time. I would go back, but I will try and schedule for a time when I anticipate fewer people.
Las Vegas Athletic Clubs
I've been a member of LVAC for a little over a year. I can't say I'm head-over-heels for the place, but I don't hate it either. They have several machines to work out on. I rarely have to stand by and wait for a machine. There are enough locations so that there is always on nearby, wherever I may wake up. The Flamingo club isn't the nicest, and it's not open 24 hours. The new club in Green Valley is awesome, and a new one is being built near Cheyenne and 95.
The staff aren't the friendliest bunch of people I've every met, but they aren't downright rude either. They seem to just do their jobs and get through the day. When I went in for initial tour, they weren't too pushy. I got the tour and they showed me the options and let me make up my own mind. Nice gym to work out at. I wish they branched out beyond racquetball, weights, and a pool. It would be nice to see a couple of basketball courts.
PROS: Several locations open 24 hours.
CONS: Some locations need improvement.
Michael's Photo Lab
I needed to get some pictures blown up to 8x10 very quickly. I figured it would take some photo lab a solid week. Michael's did it in three days.
I came in to pick up the photos, and they were ready when they said they would be. One of the pictures had a very slight imperfection. I didn't have to say anything about it. The lady at the counter noticed and redid the photo while I waited. I was impressed since the imperfection was extremely small.
I'm not sure about the price, as I have nothing to compare it to. I wasn't surprised with the cost, so I'm sure it was close to average. All in all, it was a good experience. I recommend them to anyone.
PROS: Attention to details.
CONS: Location isn't in the best part of town, but not the worst either.
