United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
The Holocaust Memorial Museum is a must see when you visit Washington. Though the line to get in starts early, it is well worth the wait. The doors open at 9am; just prior to opening you're given a ticket with a time you can enter. My friend and I were at least 100 back in line, probably more, and still got in right at 9am. We spent a good 6 hours touring the 3 levels. It is very moving and very, very emotional. Anyone visiting DC cannot miss this.
PROS: historically significant and accurate
CONS: crowded
Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Pentagon South
I took a week-long trip to DC last month and stayed at the Sheraton Pentagon South. It was absolutely one of the most comfortable hotels I have ever stayed at. They provide shuttle service to and from the airport as well as a nearby Metro station, providing easy access to all of the DC Metro area. Their staff is friendly and everyone seemed to be very happy and helpful.
The rooms had some of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. I would stay at another Sheraton anywhere just to get those beds again.
PROS: great staff, great rooms!
CONS:
Pep Boys
I went to this Pep Boys in an effort to try and find the solution to my car problems and only got a laundry list of supposed other items that were in need of repair. All I came in for was a simple tune-up, meanwhile they're telling me I need new spark plugs, new belts and my transmission is going bad. After taking it to my more reliable mechanic, the only other thing it needed was new belts and it has run just fine since.
In addition, when they call to tell you your car is ready, be prepared to wait another 30 minutes to have them finish the paperwork. In all reality your car isn't ready to pick up, but tell you it is regardless and have you wait around in their shop for even longer. Avoid unless you're in need of immediate attention and can't make it down the street to somewhere better.
PROS:
CONS: recommend unneccessary work, long waits
Discount Tire
I have visited this Discount Tire on several occassions and have always gotten in and out very quickly. Usually I just head over to have my tire pressure checked and have them fill it up if necessary, but I've also had them repair and replace several tires on several different occassions. Even when they seem to be very busy, their service is very fast, never having me wait more than 30 minutes. When I needed one of my tires replaced, they were patient as I looked for my warranty information, quickly told me how much I owed and had me on my way in a matter of minutes. Very dependable and very courteous employees!
PROS: Short waits, dependable employees
