This is a great bookstore. Friendly and knowingly staff that are always helpful, and if they dont have the title you are requesting, the usually get it very quickly. The in-store cafe is nice, and often they have live folk music groups or solists playing in the late afternoons and evenings.
PROS: Good selection, helpful staff, entertainment
Very nice store and very helpful employees. Their kitchen department is outstanding. If you look for a unusual kitchen gadget, you will find it in this store. Sign up with their mailing list and you will receive on a regular basis 20% off coupons in the mail.
The Coomers Craft Mall, Las Vegas and all other branches in the South West have closed earlier this year due to bankruptcy, so don't bother go there anymore.
The Resorts consists of 3 Hotel/Casinos, Primm Valley Resort, Buffalo Bills and Whiskey Pete's. All 3 have different themes. Usually we stay in Primm Valley Resort., which has a large courtyard garden with a big pool.
There is a very good comp program in place and it's very easy to get free rooms, food and even show tickets.
Because of the thrill rides (incl. a very great roller coaster) there are many children in Buffalo Bills during the weekends.
PROS: Close to Las Vegas
CONS: Not in Las Vegas
The hotel/casino is right on the river. Big rooms and some of them with river view. The garden with the swimming pool also overlooks the river. It has a nice location and everything from River Palms to Riverside is in walking distance. If you have strong legs, you can even walk to Harrah's.
The restaurants are OK. The casino has low celings and is on the dark side. If you go to Laughlin this would be a good choice.
PROS: Friendly staff and great location
CONS: A little bit worn
Hearst Castle is not a real castle, but an architectual oddity build for entertaining guest. The place is more tacky than beautiful with a mix-up of different architectural directions and a huge collection of old European church and monestary interiors bought up by mr. Hearst in his glutton for "culture". But still - it is a very interesting place to visit and the tour guides have a lot of information and anekdotes about the "Castle" and it's builder. It is well worth the price.
PROS: Interesting and somewhat odd
CONS: Strictly laid out tours
If you plan to stay a couple of days in San Fransisco and don't want to spend too much on lodging, this Day's Inn is a good choice. Located on Geary St only a 10 minute walk from Union Square and with a bus stop across the street, it's perfect for your trips in this great city. The price is moderate, and the rooms are roomy and in a pretty good state of upkeep. The reception is very helpful, providing maps and directions. A big plus is that they provide free parking in a garage in the lower level of the Motel. Parking in San Fransisco can cost you a fortune, so this is definetely a added plus to this motel
PROS: Location, price, free parking
This dentist has a beautiful office in a beautiful building. Dr. Blascoe and his staff are nice and caring, and he does magnificent dental work. AND - the biggest plus is the dental hygenist Karen. She's just wonderful, kind and sweet. She alone is worth going to the dentist
PROS: Wonderful dental hygenist, great dentist and a very beautiful office.
This was a very bad experience. Every word from the neighboring room could be heard. The last night of our stay the room was rented to 4 college-age kids. As if that wasn't bad enough they ended up inviting 3 girls to stay with them. We complainted in the afternoon several times and again complained in the evening. Reception kept on promising us that they will take care of the problem. Reception went so far to tell us that if the girls will be there in the night, they will call the police. Around 2 AM all 7 of them came back to their room. We again called the reception and again were promised that they will take care of it. Well, they didn't. The result was that we were awake all night.
Upon check-out in the morning the manager did apoligize and told us very proudly that he will charge the occupants in room in question another $100 for 3 additional occupants. At this point we were too tired to argue and just wanted to leave this place.
PROS: good location for beach and boardwalk
CONS: old room, paper-thin walls and bad management
Even if you are not specially interested in fish and ocean life, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is worth a visit. The variety ans speciality of the displays are fantastic, especially the exibition of jelly fish is out of this world. The explanatory signs are written in an understandable way, and the hands on exibit is interesting, informative and fun for adults too
PROS: Fantastic. One of a kind in the world
