The Greystone manor where the Culinary Institute is located in is a beautiful building. It is right off the main road but elevated from it which really shows off this majestic building. Parking is a bit limited because they only have a small parking lot in front of the building and many visitors. They have small exhibits in the halls showcasing the manor's history and a culinary shop selling all the gadgets you may need in the kitchen.
The Hilltop Christian School is located on top of a hill, literally. Each age group is separated into separate rooms. The business name says preschool but they actually have classes from pre-kindergarden to tenth grade. They have a large playground for the kids behind the school. You don't have to be the same religion or a parishioner of the church that's connected to this school. However, the kids are given a prayer time and read religious books about Jesus so if this is not acceptable to you as far as religion I don't suggest you have your kids go here.
This little Filipino store is located in a shopping plaza not too far from the freeway. They sell many asian foods specifically filipino food products. They have a frozen food section, just a few selections of fresh produce and a very small fresh fish section in the back of the store. They also sell cooked food in the back that you can buy to go.
The San Francisco Zoo is a relatively big zoo. They have a large collection of animals to see there although I have been there a few times where they did not have the animals in their exhibits. One time my daughter was disappointed that the elephants were not to be seen. They do have a pretty large children's zoo with a nice collection of farm animals for the kids to pet. They landscaping is very nice with large trees and lush vegetation.
I have been to the Oakland zoo with my family a couple of times now and I have to say that it is a very nice zoo. They have the basic collection of animals like lions, elephants and giraffes but nothing spectacular. They do have a nice little amusement park with several rides for kids like a merry-go-around. There is also a huge picnic area adjacent to the zoo complete with picnic tables, benches and barbeque grills.
Honda Pro is a auto repair and maintenance shop servicing Hondas, Acuras, and Toyotas. They are located behind the Valero gas station. They provide major service for your car when your car's odometer reaches the 30K, 60K, 90K & 120K. They also do oil changes. They are very nice there and have always done a good job on my car.
Saint Joseph Church is located in the heart of old town Pinole. They have very limited parking and Sunday's parishioner's look for parking on the streets surrounding the church. The church's pews weren't designed to accomodate a traditional wedding in that there is not a center aisle running down the main entrance to the altar. So a bride can't do a traditional walk down the aisle. They do have a Spanish and Filipino mass on Sundays.
This store is located on the 4th street shopping thoroughfare. It is very near the freeway. The store is very small but attractively decorated with beautiful handmade papers. They carry large sheets, like 30-40 inches long, of handmade paper. They also sell things like journals covered with handmade paper. Parking is the only problem to get to this store. The street is very busy with shoppers walking from store to store and lined with parked cars. If you find parking, it's best to leave your car there and walk from store to store.
This Little Piggy Wears Cotton is one of many stores on 4th Street which is an outdoors of thouroughfair of shops. Free parking is difficult to find unless you want to pay for parking at the large parking lot nearby. The storefront is attractively decorated and upon entering the store you see cute clothing and accesories for babies. The prices are a little on the steep side though.
This asian grocery store is located in the International Marketplace plaza which is not too far from the freeway. They have plenty of parking space. They carry a very large variety of asian food products, frozen items, fresh produce, and fresh fish and meats. The store is comparatively dingy and most of their shopping carts are old and rusty. But it is a great place to go for asian foods at a great price.
