After hitting a few waterparks this summer, I can't tell you how impressed I am with Holiday World!! It was SO much cleaner, and they had the water all sparkly and ph balanced!! GREAT job. Better than many pools I've been to even!!
Couldn't find a full trash can in the joint; you could carry your drink right up to the ride, and THEN throw it away (so you could refresh and relax in the SHADY line... instead of downing an expensive drink, tossing it in the garbage, then standing in a hot line.!!!
Parking included, drinks included, floats included...
We went this weekend and didn't think it was so great. The water was in poor condition and reeked of bacteria. Didn't sense any chlorine, but there had to be some as my blue shirt is now NOT blue!! Had to scootch down several waterslides because of lack of water pressure. The idea of PAYING for a water tube in a water park really riled me up. I would rather pay one fee and have it be all inclusive, including parking, tubes, and at least water to drink!! (They SAID there was free water to drink, but there were no glasses, and it wasn't "fountain" water that you could just drink.
Also my child, who is a good swimmer, got STUCK in what he called a whirlpool in the kiddy section of the park. He's 5 and in the 90% for height and weight, but got HELD DOWN by the DRAIN in the lazy river!!! VERY scary!! More scary was the limited number of lifeguards in the kiddy area.
Next time we'll stick with Holiday World...
A local family took a little piece... a filter for gasoline... and has turned it into the lifeblood of a small town.
They're a loyal company that has grown into an international company. Their products are all over the place, because THEY WORK!! They take particles of waste and water, and keep them from getting into your gas.
The next time you pump gas, look between the hose, and the pump and you'll probably see a swiveling canister... THAT is a guarantee of better quality gasoline!!
While they don't have a LOT of any ONE thing, they DO try to keep a variety of what they have. They always have fresh meat and vegetables. They have nice pastries. They have plenty of junk food and even carry videos for rental. Sometimes you'll pay a little more, but when you're in a pinch, you know you can probably get it there.
The one thing that I don't like is that they don't accept credit cards. Now that I live in a bigger town, it's hard for me to believe that a grocery store doesn't take credit cards, but they don't.
Dr Sochor is one well known dentist in this and surrounding towns. His service is great, his office has great people, and they're there when you need them.
His office is right on Main Street and has serviced generations of locals. He's close. He's great, and he's trust worthy.
When you live in a small town, there are some things that you REALLY appreciate. One is that there are people who will take a chance, and build a small business that will have the things that people need, and another is that they will not take advantage of those same people by jacking prices.
Dobson Automotive is a loyal business of a small community. The respect is mutual. It is truly a saving grace to be able to drive a few blocks rather than spend an hour in the car to get to the nearest "big city". When you need a part, in a pinch, they are always there!
This is one of the biggest things that I miss, living in a big town now. The personal service of the local gas station!!
They still pump your gas... They work on brakes, brake pads, rotors, oil filters... Any of the "little" things that need maintenance on your car. Even tires... And EVERYTHING is cheaper than the mechanics in the BIG towns!! I used to drive 3 hours to get my car stuff done!! And it was WORTH it!!
They always say it will take a few hours, or a few days (depending on what you're having done) but it NEVER takes that long. Seems to be their standard line. Oh how I miss them!!
This restaurant is classified as Italian, but it's actually a Mediterranean affair. They have outdoor seating for a nice summer meal, but don't fret. If it's winter, they have an amazing fireplace that heats up the small restaurant.
The decorating inside is a bit mild, and the entrees are limited, but the appetizers and desserts are AMAZING. If you're looking for a nibble after hitting BroadRipple shops, THIS is the place to stop!!
There's not a lot of online advertising for this place, because all of the locals already know where it is. It's a great place to go and hang out, and have a little grub.
Many of the people who eat here are regulars, so you might stand out the first few times, but after that.. you're ONE OF THEM!!
This is a great place to give a chance, if you're looking for comfort.
This business was started by a man who cares about GREAT lawns. He provides residential as well as commercial services. He does mowing, aeration, seeding, fertilizing, mulching, trimming hedges and bushes, and more.
He can do big jobs, and little jobs. Rototill your garden spot, cleanup a lot... and believes in going full force til the job is done.
