It is fun to go here and spoil yourself every once in a while. The store is gorgeous and is carpeted. They offer all of the high end fancy food and all of the high end prices to go along with it. They also offer coffee and deserts in the restaurant that is located right in the store. I certainly would not do my everday shopping here as I do not necessarily need all of the high end items every week, but like I said, it is a nice way to treat yourself every once in awhile, the desserts are to die for!
Kid's Hair
Kid's hair is a great concept! They offer kids only haircuts in a kid-friendly atmosphere. If you have a child who hates getting their hair cut, this is the place for them. There are individual TVs at each station, lots of toys and and other fun things so the kids will easily forget they are there to get their hair cut. They also offer specialty services such as "gum removal". The stylists are all used to working with children, so that helps as well. They are a little pricey, but for your hard to sit still kids, it would be worth it!
Nu Look Consignment
This is a great store. They have tons of maternity clothes which is always useful since you don't really wear them that long. They are stylish and in good condition. They also have a huge area of clothes on the floor and also have a great clearance section.I would definelty recommend this place if you are looking for clothes for your kids, teens, or even if your looking for adult clothes. You will also find shoes galore here. They consign name brand clothes as well top end items.
Antiques Minnesota Inc
This is a large antique shop right off of 35W and Hwy 13. Although convenient to the freeway, you have to wind around on frontage roads to actually get to the place. I was expecting more than I got when visiting there. It is large, lots of individual spaces filled with your typical antiques. I didn't find anything spectacular about the place, and it certainly doesn't have the ambiance of a quaint little antique shop in a cute town somewhere. So depending on what you are looking for, you might find it. But if you are like me and you like the whole experience of going to an antique shop, I would skip this place and go to Stillwater or Red Wing.
Urbanimal Service & Supply INC
Urbanimal is a great little Uptown pet supply shop with enough character to make it a local fav. They carry a wide selection of pet foods, accessories, etc., not to mention they have resident pets that lounge around the shop and don't mind a little attention while you're shopping! One thing that really sets them apart is their saucy humor in their advertising. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just visit their website.

A great flower shop in the heart of the city with a large greenhouse full of stems, blooms, and foliage. They can make up a bouquet for an order upon request, or you can walk through the showroom and create your own bouquet (which I always like to do). Then, they will trim them and dress the bouquet appropriately and package it up how you like. A great store with great selection, and great service!
DreamHaven Books
DreamHaven is a great store with an extensive selection of science-fiction, fantasy, and comic books, both used and new. If they dont have something really obscure, theyll be happy to order it for you. Occasionally, they will have in-store author signings and actually have their own press to publish books, DreamHaven Press (which publishes Neil Gaimans Angels and Visitations). Theyve been open since 1977, and its easy to see why theyve been around so long.
Theatre Antiques
Built into an actual theatre, marquee and all, Theatre Antiques is part of the great quirkiness that can only be found in Uptown. You never know what kind of vintage, stylish, piece of funky history youll find. They also offer vintage clothes (including classic gloves, hats, and scarves) as well, if that futuristic 1950s furniture set is not exactly what will go with your dining rooms motif.
X Ray Vision
Very affordable, yet upscale vision boutique. The store is small, but stylish, with artwork by local artist shown gallery-style. The sales people are not high pressure, and they take several vision plans. Unfortunately, Dr. Daly doesnt do full-service exams in this location anymore (youll have to go to their sister location for that), but this is hands down the most quaint glasses shop Ive ever been to. Their prices tend to be on the higher end when compared to other glass places such as walmart of lens crafters, but in my opionion for the extra style it is totally worth it. Plus, if your prescription changes you can just replace the lenses.
Chi Tailor & Cleaner
I Have been searching for a good dry cleaning place for a long time. I finally stopped at Chi Tailor and Cleaners almost a year ago and have been going there ever since. The dry cleaning and tailoring they provide is time efficient and always looks great. And the service is fabulous; the owner always remembers my name and has a smile. They offer great prices on shirts and pants and they also do great on coats and winter clothing as well as on bedding that needs to be dry cleaned only. I've referred friends and they are pleased as well. By the way they have moved their location to a small strip mall on Lyndale and Franklin.
