Crazy 8 Deal - a 10" one topping pizza, an order of 12 breadsticks, a dipping sauce, and two drinks for $8.88. I don't really even need to say more than that, but there is SO MUCH more to say. Avers has loads of wonderful gourmet pizzas, along with wonderful breadsticks and sauces. And to wash it all down, make sure you choose Loganberry as your two drinks. What could be better? BBQ Chicken pizza is my personal favorite on the menu. They deliver very quickly, and are open VERY late to satisfy your midnight (and beyond) cravings.
PROS: Best pizza place I've ever dealt with.
CONS: There aren't more Avers all over the world.
Very impressive organic grocery store. All of the fruits and vegetables are incredibly fresh, and the people who work there are very friendly. My girlfriend brought her 8 week old puppy into the store because she didn't want to leave her in the car, and a customer service representative actually talked to us for a good 3 minutes BEFORE telling us that it was against Indiana law to have a pet in a grocery store unless it is for a handicapped individual. It was completely unnecessary for her to talk to us for that long, but it was nice to see how well she handled the situation, and how Bloomingfoods cares not to offend their customers in any way shape or form.
PROS: Fresh fresh fresh, good people.
CONS: Kind of low-tech compared to Marsh or Kroger.
Omailia foods took over my favorite grocery store, Mr. D's, here in Bloomington a little over a year ago. I wasn't happy to see Mr. D's go at all, but I was optimistic about Omalia's coming in, and definitely looked at it with an open mind. They have some good organic foods, and fresh fruits and things, but overall it's nothing you can't get at Bloomingfoods and Kroger. I'd much rather go to Kroger for the simple fact that they have U-Scan...
PROS: Nice name, fresh food.
CONS: Mr. D's was much better, nothing makes you want to come back.
Pretty cool little Brewhouse here in Bloomington, Indiana. It's located in a convenient spot downtown. The people are a little over-friendly, but it's definitely in good faith. The food is pretty good, and they have some massive burgers with some awesome hot sauce. I haven't had much else but the burgers, though. I'd recommend Scotty's, but on the other hand, it was definitely nothing special.
PROS: Good food, good location downtown.
CONS: Nothing unique or really fun.
Wow. I can't say enough about this restaraunt. I have taken a few dates here, and it is absolutely lovely. I can't express how nice the atmosphere is, how nice the people are, how good the food is, and most importantly, how comfortable I feel when I go there. It's a little small, and so when you walk in, you naturally notice a lot of detail, and on the wall there are numerous awards hanging there of when they were voted the best in Bloomington for quite a few years. This is a wonderful little ethnic restaurant that I highly recommend. 5/5.
PROS: Great food, great place
CONS: They close for an little in the middle of the day.
So, my girlfriend was looking for something or other and she dragged me into this place. I can't even explain how terrible it was. I was uncomfortable standing OUTSIDE the store!! We walked in, and it was basically this old man in what could have been his bedroom, which hadn't been cleaned in 20 years, selling all of his stuff. Everything was dusty, it smelled awful, and the paraphernalia collection was quite interesting too. Amazing how with state laws the way they are, nobody can do anything about that.
PROS: It's in a nice location...
I live right across the street from the TIS Music Shop, and I've been there quite a few times. It's a nice, clean little store with some friendly people and a very inviting atmosphere. It's too bad that the prices are SO high that I usually pass on anything that I want to buy there. I absolutely needed some guitar stings and a capo once, and ended up spending $30 when it should have been $20 max, had I gone to Guitar Center or something like it.
PROS: Nice store, inviting atmosphere, friendly people
CONS: They sell everything at list price.
I got my books here one time, and I won't be going back. It's not that it's a bad store, or that they are overpriced or anything like that. Quite the opposite, actually. I was purchasing books, and I didn't think that the price that came up in the register was the correct price (and it turns out that it wasn't), and when I said that to the girl working there, she got very defensive about it and told me that I was wrong and that I didn't know what I was talking about. She brought a co-worker over, and they said they didn't know, so she then called a manager who did a price check. He told her that I was correct, and to change it, and when she started making faces at me and continuing to be outwardly rude, I just left and decided never to come back.
PROS: Nice store, nice prices.
CONS: Not so nice people.
The Dragon Express is a place that looks a little run down and unclean, but once you get past the awful pictures that show your meal choices, you might even be a bit surprised by the quality of the food. Obviously you won't be expecting much when you see the place, but it has been very good each time that I've taken out from The Dragon Express. One thing that might keep people from going there is that they don't contain the mainstream chicken teryiaki.
PROS: Good food, one of a kind.
CONS: Seems run down and unkept.
If you are in the near vicinity of Bloomington, Indiana, and your stomach is telling you that it wants some food, hit up Mother Bears. I can't express how good their pizza is. They have a variety of gourmet pizzas, pastas, strombollis, etc... and the atmosphere that they provide is very unique. They truly are one of a kind, and they are very reasonably priced.
PROS: Great food, Great atmosphere, Great Price
CONS: Gets a little crowded sometimes
