First of all, I hate dentists!!!! I love music!!!! Dr. Garland K. Davis has helped me to overcome my fear of dentists with his incredible "bedside manor" as well as his choice of music in his office.
I mean, he has the most incredible selections that I have heard in years. It's like he has his own radio station.
Anyway, Dr. Davis is an incredibly talented dentist! He is not just technical he is also very artistic in the way he perfoms the work in peoples' mouths.
I am glad that I found him. I am sure that he has saved me from early false teeth. Thanks Dr. Davis.
PROS: Near to my home, great music, nice staff, clean, soothing.
CONS: None whatsoever!!!
I have had the pleasure of dealing with Mrs. Massie on several occassions. Mrs. Massie comes to the table very well prepared. Her strength is in her ability to calm you. And then the magic starts. I was impressed at the ease in which she was able to find us exactly what we were looking for. I am so glad that we found her, she made the transaction very smooth and all involved were very pleased. Thanks Fay! You really made us feel like you care.
PROS: Quality service, knowledge, good tools, great negotiator & client advocate.

Vinny's is a great little Italian restaurant located on Holabird Ave. near the what it now closed GM plant. Vinny's has to be one of the best surprises that I discovered during my time working in this area of the city. I would go there for lunch and found some truly wonderful treats there. To begin with Vinny and his wife Grace are very welcoming and very, very hands on in the operation of this great neighborhood business. The back end of the building is a very nice dining room area whereas the front end of the building houses the open kitchen area and a small sit down area for those who just want to run in eat and run out. There is also a cafeteria style ordering line. The pizza is wonderful. Vinny makes different pizzas everyday, but he always has cheese, pepperoni and sausage pizza available (oh the sausage!!!). I have also seen a tomato, feta and brocolli pizza, an artichoke and tomato pizza and my absolute favorite pizza, the clam, shrimp, garlic and cheese pizza, which has no tomato sauce is just on fire!!! Damn it is good!!!! Vinny's also offers a variety of fresh salads, try the Mesclun Salad, which has fresh Mozzarella cheese and roasted red peppers. They also have great sandwiches, try an Italian Sub or a Cheesesteak, you will not be disappointed. For those of you that love French Fries, Vinny's is the place to go. You get a huge bag of French Fries, these are hearty steak fries and they deliver them to you without a lot of grease, freshly prepared and hot!!! There are so many truly wonderful items on this menu, I would do Vinny's a disservice to just mention a few. You will love this place. Tell Vinny that I said hello!
PROS: Great food, great staff, great consistencny.
CONS: Needs more locations.
I was told about Walt Eger's garage a while back after having a problem with my van. I had just moved to Severn, MD and didn't know of any place that I could take my vehicle for repair. So, that suggestion that I take the van to Walt Eger's was taken with a grain of salt. I sauntered over to Grimm Rd to this off the beaten path garage. Out came Mr. Eger. He asked what the problem was and told me to pop the hood. He commenced diagnosing the problem and told me that I needed some hoses replaced and that he could take me right in to the shop and I would be out in no time. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. He could have told me that the problem was something a lot more expensive to repair, but the hose replacement and labor totalled about $40.00 and the problem went right away. After my visit, I began to notice that Walt Eger ran a local television commercial. The main point in his commercial was that he was honest. I could not agree more. Thanks Walt!
PROS: Great service, knowledgeable mechanics, quick and accurate repairs.
CONS: Sofa in waiting room is a bit uncomfortable.
Not being a Maryland native, I have had to learn just what a good crabcake is. I have had crabcakes that were made from special crabmeat, claw crabmeat, lump crabmeat, and jumbo lumb crab meat, not to mention the abominable krabmeat (notice the K), which is actually made from fish. Anyway, after years of experimenting with the many different kinds of crabmeat and countless encounters with restaurants claiming to have "Maryland's BEST CRABCAKES" I have found the "Holy Grail" when it comes to crabcakes. Jerry's is a restaurant located in Lanham Seabrook, Maryland. Jerry's is not exactly where you would look to find a restaurant of this caliber. It is actually in an out of the way strip mall. The restaurant doesn't stand out with a lot of signs and neon. I think that word of mouth has served as Jerry's beacon more than any sign or neon could. Now to the food... If you are lucky enough to be seated before the lunch rush take the time to loosen your belt. You wil be in for a wonderful surprise. There is a crab soup that will knock your socks off. The soup has a cream base, with a mild infusion of curry. The soup is topped off with a generous helping of wonderful, jumbo lump crab. Then there are the Crab Bombs. The Crab Bomb is a fist sized crabcake made of Jumbo Lump Crabmeat. There is virtually no filler. The Crab Bomb comes in a firecracker variety for those of you that want your crabcakes to have more bite. The side salad has to be accompanied by Jerry's Bleu Cheese dressing which has huge lumps of real bleu cheese. There is also a way fabulous Seafood Platter that seems to never, ever end. Then there is Jerry. Jerry is the owner and founder of this family owned and operated establishment. Jerry will sometimes meet and greet you at the door and if there is a line Jerry or someone in the family will offer an appetizer sample while you are waiting. Ask to see the kitchen if they are not busy, jerry will give you a personal tour. Great place!
PROS: Awesome crabcakes.
CONS: Needs more locations.
In April of 2005 my life was changed after suffering a patellar tendon rupture and separation. After surgery I was to go through rehabilitation. The choice of a physical therapist was left to me. My main concern at first was to find a physical therapist that was close to my home. I looked around and found NovaCare. NovaCare is located on route 175 in Odenton. The staff consists of Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants all of whom I have developed true respect for. The respect that I have comes from their dedication to me as a patient. When my therapy began, I thought that all of the pain that I was subjected to during my therapy sessions was just torture. There were many days that I just didn't want to go to therapy. I did not want to suffer any additional, un-necessary pain. However, clarity and common sense over-ruled my fear and I never missed an appointment. The pain that the therapist inflict is a necessary evil and the therapy sessions that first saw me as a helpless, one-legged patient have helped me progress to self sufficiency. Thanks to Diana, Karen, Scott, Angela, Laura, Rebecca, Jenna, Elijah and Amy for all that you have done to help me and for all that you do to help others. You guys are really great.
PROS: Near my home. Great staff.
CONS: Pain...The necessary evil! No hydrotherapy.
Sometimes you want more than basic breakfast fare for breakfast. When I lived in L.A. I could pretty much find anything that I wanted to eat 24 hours 7 days a week. Ahhh, I have found L.A. here in Maryland (except this place closes after dinner). Eggspectation is a restaurant where the menu is quite extensive. Anything on the menu can be purchased at anytime of the day. So, you can have "dinner" for "breakfast" and "breakfast" for "dinner". What a great concept. Spirits are also available all day long. I enjoy meeting friends here for a quick breakfast meeting or a nice mid-day meeting. The menu is satisfying for everyone since there is always something available from the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
PROS: Spirits, breakfast, luch or dinner all day long.
For years, I have heard that the best Chinese restaurant in Maryland was that place in Columbia, whose name I won't mention. Anyway, I moved to the West County section of Anne Arundel County Maryland, and sought new places to eat. Chinese food has always fascinated me and finding a Chinese restaurant that Chinese people actually patronize is something akin to finding the winning lottery numbers in a fortune cookie. I have patronized Hunan L'Rose for the last 7 years and found that the food is not only expertly prepared, it is also artistically presented. Everything is prepared with great attention to taste and balance. Never too sweet, never too salty. The spring rolls are some of the best that I have had anywhere and my surprise favorite is the Sweet and Sour Soft Shell Crab. The menu is rather eclectic with a nice mix of vegetarian, squid, fish, lamb, beef and chicken dishes to mention just a portion of their menu. And, I must mention that the decor is soft and very pleasant. Thanks for a continued great Asian food experience.
PROS: Great menu. Awesome eggrolls. Beautiful decor.
