Avenue
Avenue is a great place for a special dinner. The menu is focused and changes enough to keep things interesting. The wine list has great value and depth. Be sure to make a reservation because you may have to wait - but it is worth it.
Aida Designs
While some say this spa is past its prime, it has always been a home run for me. The exfoliating body scrub is better than any other place I have experienced. The "grounds" are comfortable wihtout being over the top. Do not do the make up (it came ina package I was given) unless you want to look like you are playing dress up.
Murad Spa
Although the location is easy to miss being hidden in an office building on Rosecrans, the Murad Spa (like its products) is great for skin care. They take a clinical approach to facials, so it less about the pampering aspect of a day spa and more aboutlooking and feeling healthier. I've been hit or miss with massages, but had a great exfoliating therapy there. I also think their pedicures are great too.
Burke Williams Day Spa
Burke Williams in SM may be past its peak. The waiting area is run down and not as comforting as other spas, although the women's lounge with the Roman Bath is still quite nice. Great facials, but the body services (e.g. exfoliating and wraps) are not great. A good place for a large group doing a spa place, but not good for a day break.
Trilogy Spa
Great surroundings for a small, more intimate spa. Beautiful waterfall shower and rooms. Service, however, is hit or miss. They do very good massages, but the skin care was not the best. Pedicare was clearly a B.
Aesthetics By Amaal & Niko
Susan is one of three aestheticians who work in a lovely little office behind Beach Bodies Salon in Hermosa Beach. You enter off the alley behind Hermosa Ave. Susan is fabulous with waxing and facials. She also offers the perfect amount of pampering and is very loyal to her client base, often rearranging her personal schedule to squeeze you in for a visit. Although she only works weekends, again, she will make room for her clients.
Hush Hush
Nice salon, conveniently located in the heart of MB. Kelly does a great job with cut and color, finding the right style. Place is clean and comfortable and serves wine!
