Sirens & Sailors
I like the store because it's unique. People in L.A. like to look like everyone else. Heaven forbid that you look like you. But here they have pieces made by local artists and designers. So go ahead and wear your Seven jeans. Just do it with a top or belt from here. You'll be supporting local talent, so it's definitely worth a look.
PROS:
CONS: Some of the pieces are albit out there
Belle Grey
This store is owned by soap star Lisa Rinna. They have some good pieces, but a lot of it is typical L.A.
I first became interested in the store when I saw her on television and loved the items she wore and showed. However, once I got to the store I saw that the pickings were slim. They have their own line of Juicy-like sweats, but they look inferior next to Juicy itself (which they also sell).
PROS:
CONS: slim pickings
Faire Frou Frou
Wow. This store makes you feel like Carrie in Paris. It's full of not only high end lingerie, but turn-of-the-century boudoir antiques. You can actually purchase basically anything inthe store. It is owned and run by a mother and daughter and their personal touch runs throughout the store.
American Rag
The store is divided into three sections--new clothes on one side, used on the other and shoes and accessories down the middle. The sales staff is young and hip, but not snooty.
Prices range from mid to high, nothing out of line with any other stores. The used section is pricey for vintage, however.
For those that like to be at the forefront of fashion, this is a place to go. They were one of the first L.A. stores to feature Earl Jeans.
PROS:
CONS: Can be pricey
Trilogy Spa
The signature spa treatments ($130 each) are fabulous. I had the lavender tea-tree infusion sweep which included a body scrub, soak in a spacious tub, and light body & head massage--It was heaven. The private room was adorned with orchids and candles which added experience. Service was pleasant and helpful and the amenities were great.
Slimmerbody/dr. Kaur's Wellness Solutions (dkws)
This is where to go. They do body wraps to help trim inches off of you so you can fit into those jeans or dress. I lost 10 inches the first time I went here. I had to keep one hand on my jeans (which fit fine when I walked in) or I would have mooned everyone.
They also have many different kinds of washes to help you with many ailments. I might try the stomach one next time in conjunction with a wrap and see how that works.
Suburbia Salon & Spa
There's nothing to squawk about here. It's always hard, finding someone to do your hair. Whether it's color, cuts, extensions... Well, this had to be the best experience I've ever had with a new salon.
They email you a few days before to confirm your appointment, so that was a good start. When I arrived, the receptionist greeted me and my appointment started ON TIME!!!
They even have a great program that keeps track of your history at the salon, including pictures. The San Fernando valley may have Beverly Hills on the run if this keeps up.
PROS: You can get your nails done, too
CONS:
Aqua Day Spa
It's not awful here, but it could be better, especially for the price. and for those who are squeamish about their bodies, this is not the place for you. They have Roman baths and it can be a bit too open, even for me and I'm not ashamed of my body at all.
As far as massages go, they can be hit or miss. Once you find someone you like, make sure you schedule for when they are there. They do have valet, but there's also a structure across the street that gives 2 hours of free parking.
Adrenaline Clothing
Nothing is more annoying than a store that doesn't know how to show off it's merchandise.
That's why I like this store. It's light and airy with wood floors and the clothes are easy to see and access. Irene, the owner is very hands on and will help you pick items out whether it's for you or it's a gift.
The prices are wonderful as well.
Friends
This place caters to pre-teens, evidenced by the music that you hear when you walk in(or before you get in the door). You might believe that it is for adults otherwise, since it is a very chic boutique.
They also carry things for your pre-teens in the front (be sure to check the sizes, since some of the teen stuff is borderline), as well as makeup, jewelry and handbags.
