They pamper us women so well. They make it easy, since they even have spa parties and gift certificates so we can take our friends! ( I love their pink & white interior, too!)
They do everything here, from facials to massages to mani/pedis to waxing and even body wraps.
The staff here is very helpful, so if you are not used to this kind of thing, they will take you gently by the hand and assist you-without being snobby.
I would never have found this place if my friend hadn't had me meet her for dinner here. But I am glad that I did, since it was an all round great experience.
We started off with the tomato bruschetta with warmed goat cheese. It was to die for. Then I had the grilled Angus NY steak with mashed potatoes, onions and asparagus. I loved steak and it was mouth watering ( I might have to go there tonight after writing this). I ordered the white & dark chocolate mousse cake(w/Oreo cookie crust) for dessert, but I had to take it home-I was too stuffed.
All during dinner, there was great jazz music coming for the other room. It was a pleasant addition to the great food. Not to mention that for all of this, the check wasn't something you need to take loan out for.
PROS: great food and ambience for a great price
I had to put that because so much legendary stuff has happened here.
If you want to be a part of that, then stay here, even if it's just for a night. You'll feel like it's the Playboy Mansion, because EVERYTHING is 24 hours a day, not just room service. Have breakfast by the pool and you'll want to move in, too.
You would have to dig pretty deep to find something to shock the people here, as you can find rock stars roaming the halls in various stages of undress, a Fortune 500 company CEO and you. And guess what? They will treat you all the same.
PROS: excellent treament without the attitude
Shop here and you'll feel like you're a starlet for 2 reasons. First, the clothing comes from stylists (the owner used to be one, in fact). Second, actual starlets shop here.
They do have men's clothes, although the selection is mostly for women.
*** Every January and June they have outrageously good sales ***
PROS: Look like a star for less
If you're into looking good while you work out then you should visit Lucy to pick up a great outfit. They have many brands for many sports (yoga, running, walking, hiking). They also carry sizes from 0-18, which is refreshing for Los Angeles. You'll find yourself wearing the clothes you buy here even when your not working out! Prices are comparable to a sporting chain but the great styles make it worth it.
PROS: stylish workout clothing for many sizes
This store is a bit of a dinosaur. I say this because it is fashionable, yet the salespeople are very helpful even if you are not a celebrity. They also don't carry typically L.A. items, the clothes are very feminine and full of color. The store is well-lit and spacious (light wood floors and glass ceiling), so it's easy to see and access the clothes. It would be great if they opened an hour earlier or stayed open and hour later, however they host a lot of Industry parties, I am sure that is why).
PROS: very helpful staff
CONS: truncated hours
I absolutely love Lunar Dust. Their crocheted pieces are not only handmade, they are beautiful (and one of a kind).
They have handcrafted leather goods in unique colors, fashion forward organic clothing (using hemp and vegetable dyes) and the accessories come from local designers and artisans. Right in front is a beautiful mural, which gives you a glimpse of the treats inside.
Some are worn, (yet in great condition) but many are NWT items. You can get them for a small fraction of their original price, and not from 2 seasons ago. They get the clothes from personal wardrobes, stylists, designers and models.
You can find something no matter what you like. They have younger, more cutting edge lines, too.
***Don't be offended if you can't fit into the size you normally wear, many of these lines run small.***
CONS: Don't bargain shop here, the original prices start at 3 figures
clothes, perfume and candles.
This store has it all. Being fro the East Coast, I can appreciate that his store is actually a loft. It's on Beverly Boulevard, but above all the noise.
The designer is bohemian, and it shows. The fabrics, scents and designs are all reflective of that. However, the store is airy and full of light. Shabby chic, definitely.
The jewelry is ornate and it's not going to be for everyone, it's quite pricey. But she uses vintage metals and hand-dyed fabrics.
She subscribes to the fashions of today, but in her own way. You can wear her pieces years from now.
I picked up some of her fragrances, which are named after stones :garnet( my birth stone), onyz, peridot.
This is a nice little place across from Fairfax High (it's bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside). You can rent it out for a party, or go to their special screenings.
It's gorgeous inside, and they have a VIP room upstairs. When you watch a movie, it feels very homey, but not stuffy. The acoustics are great, so movie watching is a joy all around.
