Mesquite Bar Bq
My favorite! I have yet to find another BBQ place that comes close to Mesquite BBQ. It's a small family owned place - don't expect fancy atmosphere. The seating is hard to get during the lunch hour when locals rush to the place to grab a bite to eat. The prices are amazingly low for what you get - and the portions are great. Service is always friendly and helpful, buns are grilled up fresh on the grill when you order your sandwich and the fries are AMAZING. My fave is the chopped beef with relish and sauce - you can't go wrong when the paper around your sandwich is soaked with grease! Highly recommend it!
Amy Boyd, OD
Dr Robertson has moved locations a couple of times, he used to be on Town East around the corner from Old Navy. He is now located on Galloway on the way to Medical Center of Mesquite. He is a North Mesquite grad, and used to have his yearbooks in the waiting area for you to thumb through. His staff is exceptional, and the hours are always flexible when trying to get into see him. I had some eye issues and he was able to really work with me in healing my eyes and transition out of contacts. He's very friendly yet professional and does a great job caring for one of your greatest assets - your sight.
O'Brien, Randy S, Dds - P B Dental
Randy O'Brien has been the dentist for our family for over 20 years. Not only is he a great dentist, he's very friendly and talkative and will put you to ease when working on your teeth. His staff is great and they are also friendly and calming, and he especially does well with children! His office is nicely decorated in John Wayne and western motif - he's a huge fan. His location is easy to find and central to mesquite. If you're looking for a great dentist for your family, consider seeing Dr O'Brien!
Martinez Restaurant
This Mexican restaurant opened at a small location near the heart of Mesquite and has since grown into a larger location at an easier to get to location but the food, atmosphere, and prices haven't changed much. There are plenty of seats - you rarely have to wait, and the food is brought out very quickly. Atmosphere isn't much to look at but the food makes up for it!
Waco Animal Shelter
This shelter is unlike other's I've visited in that it was clean, roomy, and each animal was taken care of fairly well. This is a new facility for them. Mostly volunteer run, I always had help when I needed it while looking for the next addition to our family. Once I found the perfect pet for us, the adoption was quick and affordable.
Though I think they do good work, I do have complaints and concerns. For one, I was never counseled in anyway in regards to the animal I was taking home. Many puppies there are high maintenance breeds and i wish more time was taken in making sure the potential owner understood that so they wouldn't return the dog again after 2 years. I understand this is a time issue. In addition to that, while taking home our new puppy I asked what food he had been on to ensure his tummy didn't get upset once I was home (I was willing to buy their brand for now) and was told they just feed whatever is laying around. Which is why most of the dogs had tummy issues when I was there.
Overall, if you're looking for a dog/cat in the Waco area - please go see the ones at the shelter! So many great dogs to choose from.
Cricket's Grill & Draft House
This restaurant has a great location - right in the Bosque Rivercenter warehouse section. A big favorite of college students, we have stopped in to meet people here and can almost always get in without a problem. They have a huge amount of beer selections on tap! We were disappointed in service, quality, and value last time we were in so will only stop in here for beers on occasion.
Fax Machine
We have seen numerous movies here and are always pleased with it. The seats are high and sway back a bit, all stadium seating, and it is usually pretty clean in the theaters. Parking is plentiful and the snack bar is good. They also offer a discount on some snacks with a student ID - every bit helps!
Studio Movie Grill-Addison
This is my favorite place anywhere to see a movie. The lobby is a swanky bar area, parking is close and free, and the theaters are great! We love going to a matinee and snagging a big comfy booth in the back room.
We have always had great service here - regardless of how busy the place is. You are given a light up disk that you can use when you're ready to order something or need a refill. I love paying $2 for a drink and getting refills throughout the movie. We have gotten everything from a beer and popcorn to a huge entree and mixed drink and everything has been great. Movie ticket prices are the same as traditional theaters but it's much nicer. I also like that it's not overrun with teenagers and children so the movie is usually easier to hear.
AMC Mesquite 30
When this theater first opened, it was clean, safe, and a great place to see a movie. Now I drive to Addison to see a movie before heading here. The clientele has gone down since opening and now you would be lucky to see a movie without someone talking through it on their phone or yelling things at the screen. The last time I saw a film here I was more frustrated then anything. Going for a mid-day matinee during school days are your best bet.
Fancy Cakes By Lauren
Lauren did the cakes for our wedding and she went above and beyond in taking care of us and making sure our wedding day was perfect. Together we designed my cake, and she designed his cake based off a picture of his new guitar that I sent her. She used mutlicolored rolled fondant, baked both cakes fresh, and did an excellent job. She is fun to work with personally and is very down to earth and friendly. If planning a big event, or looking for a unique cake design, give Lauren a call.
