This is a pretty interesting museum. I got in free with my wife and some friends, but I think that was only because we went on Memorial Day and not because it?s always free. They had a lot of interesting military pieces. This meant a lot of interest on the part of me and my friend, but not necessarily for our wives. I would recommend this place if you?re into military history like me.
This is a very quaint little museum and if you are like me that means a pretty boring time. The house is very little and there is not much to see. If I was a parent it might be a good time with the kids to teach them a little bit about their home town history, but I was pretty uninterested.
Walk?s is a bad choice for car repair. They try very hard and I wouldn?t say that they don?t have nice workers, but their diagnostics are lacking. I went here with power loss for my former car and they could not tell me what was wrong. It turned out that I had a busted head gasket, but this was never mentioned. Maybe they would be good if you already knew what you needed fixed, just don?t ask them to figure that out.
All Tune and Lube is just okay. I went there and gave them a coupon for an oil change. First, the place was difficult to find. Even when I saw it?s sign, I still made a wrong turn. They also have a bad pave job, making it a rough ride for a little car like mine. They changed the oil fine but then tried to convince me to make 101 repairs. This included the usual air filter (which I inspected and found to be in great shape), but also the unnecessary fuel system flush. I recommend that you get the cheap oil change, then check into the repairs, and if you need them, go somewhere else for them.
Mr. Tire has performed an oil change for my car once and I couldn?t complain about the service. I used a coupon and unlike most places that get an oil change coupon, they did not try to talk me into a laundry list of repairs. In fact they did not try to talk me into any repairs at all. I got the sense that this was a place you can trust.
Gallant Automotive is an automobile repair shop tucked into an inconspicuous spot on the far side from the Target and Super Fresh plaza in Bel Air. The owner specializes in Corvettes but is perfectly willing to look into other cars too. He really knows what he?s doing too unlike many mechanics in the area. The shop is hit or miss on prices though. Sometimes they seem high and sometimes they seem like a good bargain.
The Penn State Creamery is a nice option for ice cream in State College. This is especially true for the students who live in the dorms and don?t necessarily have transportation to Meyer?s Dairy (a superior ice cream place). The Creamery is also a place where I always used to stop when I was showing someone from out of town the campus. It?s nice to pick up your ice cream there and keep walking around.
Meyer Dairy is a great place to go for ice cream. Everyone thinks that Penn State?s best ice cream place is the Penn State Creamery, but if you have a car and can get out there, I would recommend that you instead go to the Meyer Dairy. They have more varieties and I think that their ice cream is just a little bit better than the Creamery.
Green Bowl is a restaurant in downtown State College that offers a type of buffet line for Thai food. Don?t be fooled by the people who describe the place as selling Chinese food. I dislike Chinese food and wanted to refuse to go here when friends of mine asked me to go there. I was glad I didn?t because the food was tasty and was actually Thai.
Faccia Luna Pizzeria is a nice place to eat. They make wood fire pizza there and it is very tasty. They also have a large variety of options for other Italian food. We used to take potential grad students here in order to convince them to come to the school. The success rate for Faccia Luna was very good, so that should tell you something.
