I graduated from Martin back when it was still a high school. Although a small school has its advantages (smaller class size, more one-on-one interaction with teachers), I wouldn't recommend it if your kids are smart. When I went to college, I was at a distinct disadvantage because my school had not offered foreign languages, or any science past chemistry 1. I sent my kids to Martin a few years ago, but as soon as they hit middle school, I transferred them to a school with better teachers and more money. Martin was so poor that we had to send tons of extra things just so they wouldn't be shut down. Some of the teachers that my kids had (and others that I had, back in the day) were outstanding, but others were less than satisfactory to my husband and me. Our oldest was in the county's gifted program, and she was the only one in the school that was. That's kind of sad.
Same Day Dentures is great!! I had both upper and lower plates done here, and my husband had his upper done. The doctor and his staff are efficient and prefessional, while still being friendly. We had our dentures in just a few hours, compared to the week other places told us it would take. The prices were very good also. If you think that it sounds too good for the dentures to be worthwhile, I have had mine for four years now and haven't had to have them re-adjusted once. I definitely recommend them to anyone.
This is a great new store located just off Hwy. 459 in Bessmer AL. (the Helena/Bessemer exit). The owners, India and Nonna, have really outdone themselves! They have lots and lots of the newest in scrapbooking paper, tools, and embellishments, and at a good price. They plan to have plenty of crops as well. The location is superb; there are several restaurants within walking distance. The parking situation isn't bad, and the product is so worth it!
G. May & Sons is an institution around here. They have been in business since the early 1900's and have a reputation for quality furniture. They carry all the major brands like Bassett, La Z Boy, Broyhill, et cetera. They also carry carpet and linoleum, and appliances. Their furniture is high quality, the staff is very helpful, and they do in-store financing.
My family and I have used The Blossom Shop on a number of occasions for flower arrangements of all kinds. Their funeral arrangements are especially beautiful and in line with what the competition charges. We have never had an arrangement go astray or not be what we ordered. The flowers are always fresh and beautiful.
I recently was hospitalized for kidney stones, and the surgery done to remove them was done by Dr. Moon. He explained everything thoroughly beforehand, both to me and to my husband. The surgery went well, and he came in to talk to us almost as soon as I woke up. He explained the after care in a way that was easy to understand, and he explained when I would need to come in for a follow up visit. His staff called and reminded me before the visit. I will definitely continue to go to him.
The Musgrove Country Club is a nice place, especially for the area. That's the main reason my daughter's senior class decided to have their senior prom there. Unfortunately, due to the club's scheduling error, the kids found out that they wouldn't be able to have it there after all. Seems that a tournament had been scheduled, and the kids would have to try and fit 100 or so kids (plus their dates and chaperons) into one room, instead of the room plus outdoors, as they had previously been told.
Perhaps this was just one of those fluke accidents, but if I were scheduling an event there, I would double and triple check well before the date of the actual event.
My grandmother lived here for over a year. The apartment manager was absolutely wonderful. They checked on the tenants if they didn't see them around, and if anything at all was wrong, they were quick to fix it. The apartments are very nice, not what I expected from government assisted housing at all. It's a great way for the elderly to live alone and maintain independence for as long as they are able, without having to maintain a house.
They have a lot of nice things in this store, but the prices are a bit high for my taste. That being said, the furniture they had when I was there was very nice and the salespeople were friendly. They had many things like lamps, dishes, linens, and knick knacks. I saw more what I would term "collectibles" than I did real antiques.
They carry lots of different office supplies, computer paper, and stationery. The staff seemed knowledgeable and friendly. The prices were comparable to similar stores. They are located in the center of town, so it's easy to find and not out of the way. They also carry high-end pens and ink.
