Herron's new building on the main campus of IUPUI is absolutely gorgeous. The gallery has offered several different shows lately. From photography to paintings by John Mellencamp. Admission is free, which is really great. They are even open late one night a week to accomodate those who work regular business hours. Sometimes there are smaller shows in the Marsh Special Projects Gallery. Worth a look!
I have been to Multi Media on several occsions looking for art supplies. They have a decent selection of papers and bookbinding materials in addition to basic drawing and painting needs. Their prices are a bit on the high side and their selection isn't as good as some other places in town. The staff is always very friendly though and they offer a large variety of framing options.
Peak performance is one of the best gyms in Indianapolis. They have a great variety of weight and cardio equipment. Their free weight room is well-equipped with a variety of free weights and benches and they have several different types of weight machines as well. They also have rowing machines, ski simulators and a rock climbing wall in addition to the standard treadmills, bikes and elliptical machines. They also offer tanning, personal training, and spinning classes. The price is about average for gyms in the Indianapolis area.
Frasier's is a great place if you enjoy cooking or would like to expand your knowledge. They offer a great variety of specialty cooking products for baking, breads, desserts, wine, you name it! They also offer knive sharpening, gift baskets and cooking classes. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable about the products they sell. It is a little pricey, but it is a speciality store. To top it all off, they offer salads, soups and other light lunch items that are made in-house and are absolutely delicious!
Plato's closet is a great place for two reasons: if you have a closet full of clothes you don't wear but are in good shape, you can take them here to get a few bucks for them. They pay for your gently used in-style clothing on the spot. They are also great if you're looking to expand your wardrobe but are on a budget. I've found many pairs of designer jeans there for a fraction of the price they cost in department stores. If you take clothing in to sell they are usually really quick about getting through the inspection process.
We have been banking with FCFCU for several years. As far as banks go, you can't beat the level of service and the interest rates from FCFCU. I have financed two cars through them and they make the loan appliation process simple and painless, with a great interest rate to boot! They have always been quick to answer my questions. Their online banking servies are great as well.
I have been going to United Art and Educaiton for years. They have a huge selection of artist's, teachers, and general office supplies. Although their prices aren't the lowest, the variety of supplies they carry makes it worth a trip. Their employees are very friendly and you can find anything from canvases to paint to stickers in the store. They also carry a lot of educational toys and materials which makes it a great stop to buy children's toys or other educational games.
I frequent Prizm for artist's supplies. They carry a great variety of drawing, painting, and clay materials not to mention nearly anything else you can think of. Their prices can't be beat - they have the best in town. They are very knowledgable about the products they sell and are always willing to help you out. I have also special ordered things there without a problem.
I frequent Dolphin for their great selection of specialty papers and art supplies. I have never seen so many specialty papers in my life. They also carry a wide range of other artist's supplies. It is a great place to go to find rice papers and bookbinding materials. The staff is very knowledgable about the papers they carry and are friendly as well. They offer quantity discounts as well as a student discount.
I have been to E. 91st on several occasions with family and friends. The church is beautiful and clean. There are many different services and acitivites to choose from. I have always felt welcomed by members of this church. Perhaps the only downside is it's size; it is a very large congregation. However, the size allows it to offer both a contemporary and a traditional service. The Contemporary service has a more music-inspired focus. Great for the whole family!
