Outrigger's Kanaloa at Kona is really nice and luxurious. I went to a birthday party that was held at a 2 bedroom condo that was held here. The condominiums are very spacious and really airy. Some of the units are in two-story buildings and the condominiums are surrounded and set in the middle of a lush garden and manicured greens. They have several pools throughout the property as well as tennis courts and a fitness center. There was a restaurant on property but we stayed in to dine. I found out that the rental price was very costly but it was worth it to me.
This thrift shop has the best bread prices in town. They sell breads, doughnuts, pie pastries, jelly, peanut butter, crackers, cookies and other items at a very reasonable price. The quality of their bread is very good and you can often buy bread at 50% - 60% off of retail prices. The store is not fancy but the service is great. They gift out punch tickets so that you can get a better deal when you fill out your punch card. Lots of parking out front. The store is hardly crowded but occasionally it does get busy.
Ebesugawa Sisters is a florist that has been in business for a very long time. They make beautiful arrangements at a reasonable price. They will work with you within your price range and make a customized arrangement to fit your needs. They also have pre-prices arrangements for sale in their store. They do an excellent job on making funeral floral wreaths and sprays. Their flowers always look fresh. This is a florist that you can always count on for a beautiful arrangement. Unlimited parking on the street (you can also park at KTA).
I would recommend Mele Ukulele to purchase ukuleles in Maui because they offer the best starting prices for ukuleles. If you are a beginner ukulele player then it would be better to get an inexpensive ukulele and work your way up to the more expensive Kamaka ukuleles later. This salespeople at this store are very knowledgeable about their products. They have a large selection of ukuleles to choose from at this store. Also parking is not a problem at this store.
The Music Exchange shop in Hilo has a nice inventory of ukuleles at competitive prices. The Hilo shop has long been on the scene and features the prized brands of Martin, Gibbons and Fender. This shop also sells some music books for ukulele players. I would recommend this shop to any students that want to learn to play the ukulele or plan to take ukulele lessons. There is a lot of parking in front of this store. The staff are friendly and helpful.
This shopping center is very convenient if you are in the Keaau area. They have a Sure Save grocery store that carries a large selection of grocery items. They also have a nice Ace Hardware store for all of your hardware needs. If you get hungry, there are several ethnic restaurants and fast food eateries to choose from. They have a Thai restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, and a McDonald's across the street. There is lots of parking here and it hardly gets crowded.
We always come here to watch movies in Hilo. Their prices are reasonable for matinee movies at $5.50 per adult. The matinee prices are good for movies shown before 2:00 p.m. Even though the snacks and beverages are very expensive at the concession, their popcorn and icee beverages are very delicious. There is lots of parking at the shopping center. The theater is clean and well-maintained.
My sister found some good deals at this appliance and furniture store. She bought a used king size mattress in really good condition (but slightly used) for under $100. She also bought a computer desk for under $50. You can't find deals like this at other used furniture stores because some of their furniture is in very good shape and they have a large inventory of not only furniture but applicances too. You won't have a problem with parking because we parked out front.
We like to shop at this Marukai 99 cent store because it is located outside of downtown Honolulu. The Windward Mall is a pleasant place to shop at and this store is huge. They sell everything from silk flowers, hello kitty items, kitchenware, school supplies, hair accessories, snacks, beverages, figurines to party supplies. Everything in this store is 99 cents or a few bucks so it is great for bargain hunters like myself and my sister. It is very easy to find parking unless you shop during the holidays when it gets more crowded. We all love the Marukai 99 cent stores.
This B&B is located between Honokaa and Waipio. It is actually in a gracious older home in a setting of macadamia nut trees overlooking the ocean. We stayed in a master bedroom suite which was nicely decorated and had a private bath. Our morning breakfast included homegrown fruit and Hamakua coffee which was delicious. We chose this B&B because of its location near to Waipio Valley. We hiked down to the valley and swam and hung around the beach but didn't swim because the waves were too big and the current was too strong. We had a wonderful stay out of the hustle and bustle of Hilo.
