Second Looks
My husband and I stumbled onto this shop accidentially after we left Toys 'R US. It is a pretty small shop, but they pack in the clothes. They sell men's designer clothes on consignment. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a suit to fit my husband, but we often check back to see if there is any thing new. As it is a consignment shop you never know what you will find.
The prices are reasonable for the quality, but you can also get luckly shopping for suits and dress clothes at Goodwill.
The Clay Pit
I was a bit nervous about trying Indian food, as I don't like things too spicy. However, one of my co-workers told me they had the best Indian flood in town and he loved going their for lunch. I was presently surprised. The food was amazing and my dish wasn't too spicy. (The waiter helped me pick one out .) I went there for lunch and they was quite quick, so you can easily get in and out in under an hour. Our service was top-notch as well as the food. The prices were a little higher than I like to typically pay at lunch, but it was definitely a special treat.
Friendly's
I love the food at this little diner. Truth be told, I go only for the tuna melt sandwich and a mint ice cream sundae. They have a great menu of all types of food. We have never had a problem with the service or the food. If you really like the ice cream, you can even take a pint home with you.
Sometimes it can be a little loud in there, but since I had a daughter it never bothers me. Give it a try if you want a nice relaxed environment to eat.
A.C. Moore
As an avid scrapbooker I am always on the look-out for stores besides Michaels/Hobby Lobby to buy my supplies. When I visit my parents I like to shop in her for unique supplies. They have been around for awhile and when I lived at home I used to shop here all the time. I also used their silk flowers for all my wedding arrangements as well as my bouquet. I would recommend them, especially if you tired of the same stuff from the large chain stores.
Barton Springs Nursery
If you want some different plants than you could find at home depot/walmart, this is the nursery for you. They have a large selection of trees as well as a great selection of native texas plants. For a small fee, they will deliver your order to you. All the plants you buy from them come with a guarantee...they will replace them if they die within a certain amount of time.
The employees are very knowledgeable and offer many suggestions if you aren't sure what plants you want for the area in which you are working. They also have great prices and will often price match.
Curves
I was a member of this curves shortly after moving to Austin. It was a great concept, but did get a little boring. The owner is usually there and she is really friendly. I had to leave when I got pregnant because they did not have any childcare and I did my workouts in the early afternoons. I didn't want to have to wait until my husband came home to do my workouts.
Overall it is a great value for the money and since it is all women you get a lot of great support.
Geo Growers Dispatch
This is the best place in Austin to buy top-soil in bulk. For a small fee they will deliver it for you. There dirt is a unique mixture. They also have mulch and compost. You can buy everything in bulk (the best deal) or bagged for easy transport.
They also have a soil fertility analysis that will determine the health of your soil and they will then recommend what you could do to improve its fertiility. They will also come out and fertilizer your lawn.
They are expanding a bit and do sell a small selection of plants and seeds.
D R Horton Custom Homes
Our home is just under 10 years old now and was built by D.R. Horton under the name of Milburn homes. All I can say is that they are definitely corner cutters. First of all they didn't paint all the trim. Also they ran the security wires underneath the carpet as opposed to under the baseboards like you should. We didn't know until we decided to look at putting in hardwood floor.
We also had a major problem with our master bedroom window leaking...it was a problem that took them over 2 years to fix properly....they just tried to patch it without actually trying to figure out what the problem was. It really drove me crazy. All I can say is that I will never purchase another home built by this builder.
Tomas Barber Shop
This place has room for about eight stylists. When my husband first started going he was excited that he never had to wait. He has since decided that only Adolph will cut his hair and he might have to wait for him to be free. Adolph is fast and friendly and gets you out in about 15 minutes....perfect for that lunch break haircut.
They are not open on Mondays. The price is about $9.00 for the cut which is a great price. Since my husband started going their his hair always looks good after it is cut. Before them, I never knew what to expect when he came home. Give them a try.
Vicom Pc
This place is great for computer parts, especially if you need it now. Usually their prices can be beat by other retailers online, however when I need a part now, this is the place we go. The workers are very knowledgeable and helpful when you are trying to make a choice between two parts.
They also can repair your pcs. I have never had to have my pc fixed by them as my husband does it for me, however, I suspect that based on their knowledge they would do descent work.
