I used to have this local paper delivered to my home. It always came late in the day on the two days a week it was delivered. In addition I notice many spelling mistakes in the paper. It's good for local news but needs some work to compete with other local papers.
Commodore Hall
My mother had visited this place quite often to play lottery and hang out with local friends. She recently passed away and the owners (whom she knew) offered to open the hall after her funeral. Well, they used it as an opportunity to make money off the guests. They complained about bringing in food when they asked ahead of time if they could help with setting up food. A very unpleasant experience - just one example of the lack of good ownership.
Gabe's
Gabriel Brothers is a wonderful place to shop for bargains and to save a lot of money over regular retail prices. I have found a lot of bargains and have saved so much money! The reason for the 4/5 stars is because you really have to inspect the clothing. There could be holes or stains that make the item less than appealing! Not all their items are this way however and there are bargains to be found!
Parkwood Cemetery
Parkwood is a beautiful cemetery with plenty of options for burial. It is easy to find and get in and out. Prepare to spend lots of money as with any cemetery for burial expenses. But the staff was very compassionate and helpful to speed the process along.
Dennis F. Fisher, PHD
I had to see Dr. Dennis Fisher during a very hard time in my life. Not only was he compassionate during this time, but he offered many things to help me get through. He cares enough to check and see how things are going, and generally cares about the situation. I recommend this man to anyone in need of help to get them through the tough times in life.
JCPenney
This place is great when taking children for their birthday pictures. They work great with the kids and can always seem to get them to smile. The pictures turn out great, we're always pleased!
Things Remembered
You really need to check closely when getting something personalized. I had a clock specially engraved for a wedding present for my father for the rehearsal dinner. The company had jumbled some of the words around, but he knew what it meant. I was mortified but luckily the company took it back and fixed it at no charge.
Ma Gerk's Pub
This place has a great pub atmosphere and a wonderful variety of foods! I was particularly impressed with the originality of appetizers such as a cheese steak egg roll - and it was delicious! Our server was also very knowledgeable on the food and steered us in the right direction. Awesome place!
klein's supermarket
I use this grocery store when I want to order deli platters for a party. They have a great variety of fingers sandwiches which are perfect for parties. You can get either regular deli meats or deli salads. The sandwiches are always great and ready on time.
Geresbeck's
This is the best place in town for deli meats, and their crab meat during the summer. The crab meat prices can't be beat and I have rarely had a lot of shells in the meat. Their other seafood prices aren't too shabby either. Definitely recommended for the deli!
