We go to a lot of soccer games in Morgan Hill and this is a great place to go for lunch or dinner after the games. Nothing fancy, but the food is really good. Kind of a diner theme. Great food and good prices. Really good place for a family.
Located near the Morgan Hill Soccer Complex, this is a favorite stop for us after soccer games. Delicious Treat Ice Cream. You get a lot of ice cream for the money. Not a huge variety of flavors, but they are all great.
When we lived in this neighborhood, this was our favorite place to go for ice cream. Generous servings and tastes great. The ice cream is made by Treat Ice Cream in San Jose. It's the same stuff they sell at PW.
Even though we have moved, we still drive over a couple times a year for what we think is the best ice cream in San Jose!
We have not stayed here but visited while we were in the area. Definitely upscale and expensive. Gorgeous views of the mountains and ski slopes. Staff is very attentive and professional. If you are looking for a luxury place then this is it.
This lodge used to be barracks for the Army Corps of Engineers (or something like that) when they were working up in the canyon. It has been converted to a very cozy lodge that has a wonderful main area with a huge fireplace. Guests can hang out here and have a drink or play cards or read or just watch the snow fall. The outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi are very popular after a day of skiing. The meals are first-class gourmet and truly a treat. The price is all-inclusive, so you can come back for lunch or ask them to pack you a sack lunch to take on the slopes. The rooms are not fancy (remember, this was a barracks) but always clean and comfortable. They have dorm-style rooms, regular hotel-type rooms and family suites.
We have stayed here twice and love it. You can ski right in and out to Alta Ski Area. Also, the ski shop is very helpful and will do its best to get you whatever you need. My first trip there my bindings broke and could not be fixed. They gave me a nice pair of rentals to use for free. At the end of the trip they offered them to me to buy at such a ridiculously low price that I couldn't say no. It would have cost me more in rental fees to rent this demo skis than what they had offered to sell them to me for!
This is a great place for couples or families. Enjoy!
This is one the few ski areas left that actually limits the number of lift tickets sold each day, has a reasonable price and does not allow snowboards! I love it!!! There are some great black diamond runs to challenge even the best of skiers. Nothing fancy here, just great runs and fast lifts. We actually have to stop and rest because we get so many runs in each day that we actually get tired! What a treat. Our all-time favorite ski area.
This was my favorite place to ski in college. I quit going for many years because I was sick of the long lift lines and over-priced lift tickets. Last year we finally went back and really enjoyed the great terrain that Squaw has to offer. They have done a lot to improve things in terms of faster lifts, etc. But, they still have too many people on the mountain. It's too bad because you could really have some fun runs if you weren't about to run over someone every 30 seconds!
My brother has a time share here which we used in the winter. We got lucky and had a lake-side unit. It was beautiful being able to look out the back door and see the snow and the lake. This is also conveniently located not too far from the casinos. And there are lots of good restaurants nearby.
After years of skiing other resorts, we finally tried Alpine Meadows. It has something to offer at all ability levels and the runs are great. Lift lines weren't too long and ticket prices were lower than elsewhere. We all want to go back next winter and have fun skiing rather than waiting in line!
Terminal A at SJC has done a good job of dealing with all the security measures put in place after 9/11. In general, you can find short-term or long-term parking easily except on holiday weekends. If you are picking someone up, it is very efficient, however, the police will hurry you along if your arriving passenger is not at your car within about 15 seconds. And they are not too friendly about it.
I try to fly in and out of SJC as often as possible. It's convenient and several major airlines operate out of here. Terminal A is the nicest of the terminals.
