When I picked up my velvet Kate Spade flats this morning (dropped off to be cleaned), not only were they a different color but the velvet was ruined. Owner Dan Respeto informed me they "looked that way because I haven't brushed them yet." After brushing them in front of me for a few seconds with no change, he informed me "you may have THOUGHT they were another color but they were really this color." I replied "No, they most certainly were not." He proceeded to charge me $9.00 for the "cleaning." I informed him that I would not be returning to his business and he replied sarcastically, "Oh, that's too bad."
As soon as I arrived at work I called the store to inform them that if they did not refund my money, let alone offer some compensation for the $200 shoes, I was reporting them to the BBB. Dan's wife, Jenny, answered the phone and said sweetly, "OK, I'll let him know."
I have not heard from Dan, but I plan on going back this evening after work to demand my money back. If he does not cooperate, at least I'll be armed with 20 "SHOE KILLER" flyers with which to paper his store front.
PROS: Right down the street from my apartment.
CONS: Rude owner, poor customer service, performs opposite of requested duties.
