Smiles 4 Kids
I took my 3 year old son to a well known and highly recommended children??s dentist. His fee matched his reputation. Luckily, I was able to respond to his receptionist??s biggest concern (what type of insurance coverage I carried) when I called to make the initial appointment. I was left with the impression that without the insurance, I would have had to look elsewhere.
My son was extremely timid and shy in any new situation ?? whether it was a ride at Disneyland or his first visit to the dentist. This initial trip proved to be a disaster and very traumatizing for both of us. I was told I had to stay in the waiting room during the examination as ??mothers just make the child more upset.? His fingers were literally pried and uncurled from my neck as he was carried to the exam room. He did not stop crying or calm down as predicted. By the time I realized I had the right to be with him during the exam, he was sick to his stomach and was not responding to the ??great dentist.? We left the office with the same healthy teeth he had when we entered, a lecture on behavior expectations, a pricey bill and no balloon.
Naturally, my son needed to have regular dental appointments as part of his childhood health care. I didn??t know how I??d ever find a dentist who would understand my over fearful child - who now had a very negative memory of his only encounter with a dentist.
A friend recommended Dr. Brain. I made the appointment and was pleased to discover my insurance coverage was not the primary concern of the receptionist. I promised my terrified 3 year old I would stay with him during the exam. The appointment began with a warm greeting from Dr. Brain??s office personnel. They were extremely understanding and cooperative when I apologetically explained why I needed to be part of the exam. Dr. Brain never blinked an eye when both mother and toddler were waiting for him. He was a magician! In less than five minutes my son was relaxed with Dr. Brain??s expertise and excellent understanding of treating apprehensive children. The exam was comprehensive from the point of excellent dental care, but more important; it resulted in a life-changing attitude about dental visits for a frightened little boy. Dr. Brain continued to reinforce positive experiences and excellent dental care for the next 12 years. Dr. Brain??s expertise as a children??s dentist is the sole reason my son overcame his fears and never felt any anxiety when it was time for the orthodontic work with Dr. Kochich and the continued excellent adult services received from Dr. O??Connor.
Some adults aren??t as lucky as my son. They carry phobias/fears of dentists to the point where their dental health is neglected for years. Dr. Brain deserves 100% credit for my son??s beautiful smile! The reassurance Dr. Brain provided me can??t be measured. I believe he is an outstanding credit to his profession.
Thousands of children and parents have been a part of Dr. Brain??s career. I??m sure I??m not alone when I applaud his outstanding work.
