A step back in time to the old hole-in-the-wall guitar store. Ron is an institution. Great place for finding vintage gear and having guitars modified. Just don't expect a lot of chit chat with Ron--he's busy in the back making and modifying guitars.
This stable located on Lake Thunderbird has reasonable rates and is very good at helping pick a horse that meets your abilities. There is lots of room to ride and explore, but like all stable horses, once they sense you might be heading back home they are hard to keep moving in an outward direction. Fun outing for the family.
Larsen is your typical generalist music store, carrying pianos, guitars, basses, recording equipment, etc. Staff is friendly enough. Not much used gear, so not a high priority for the vintage gear or used bargain finder.
This campground, part of Lake Thunderbird State Park, is a great place to experience nature in the backyard of Norman, OK. They have decent bathroom facilities and you can get spots right on the lake. Rates are good and the fishing is excellent. There are a couple of nearby marinas if you have a boat. Very enjoyable.
Tina's is a shadow of its former self. You used to find the occasional vintage, collectible guitar or amp there but that was quite a while ago when the owner, Chris, wanted a great old-style hole-in-the-wall guitar store with cool old gear. I think the ownership has changed. Selection is limited and generally low end. Not a high priority for the bargain hunter.
This local YMCA has it all from a good workout room/equipment to a pool, basketball courts, and upstairs track. They offer all kinds of classes from water walking/fitness, to karate, etc. Lots of variety and something for all ages. Nursery is provided for the younger set and a play room is avaiable for older kids.
Thai Kitchen Cafe is a great place for lunch.Expect cafeteria style service of mix-and-match entrees of Thai and Chinese in huge servings at a very, very reasonable price. Ambience is nothing special, but hey, you're there for the food! Friendly staff, delicious and affordable food. Highly recommended!
Sala Thai is one of the older Thai restaurants in town and has a nice lunch special at a nice price. Atmosphere is adequate. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area for lunch. Has one of the most extensive menus in the metro for Thai food. Definitely worth a visit.
I like Chili's and have always enjoyed my meals, but I don't get the forever long lines when I go. It's not worth the wait for me and I usually just keep driving until I find a place that won't require a 30 minute wait.
I like this restaurant very much and it's one of my favorites to have a bite with a friend. The service is quick and the waiters pleasant. I love the fact that they carry a Weight Watchers menu that makes ordering so easy!
