I've read the past reviews on here from other patients and I really don't know what people are trippin' about. My experience at Van Ness Dental was nothing but positive. I received top notch treatment with straight forward explanations of cost and treatment both from the doctors and the staff. There was no hidden or unexplained costs and no such "racket" as one reviewer put it. I will be the first to admit that the decay in my mouth is due to years of junk food eating and neglect. So news about all the work that would be needed to fix my mouth wasn't a surprise. I was actually quite pleased to find out that all I needed was a full mouth debridement and irrigation instead of a deeper root planing I was expecting. Believe me, my gums were in bad shape. The fact that they prefer to place white fillings in my mouth is a good thing. Who wants all that metal and potentially harmful mercury in there. Perhaps I'm biased having worked in the health insurance industry for 5+ years and knowing the ins and outs of how HMO's run. Dentistry is expensive, there's no arguing that. But it seems like some people find griping over having to pay $50 for a filling instead of a $5 copay that their HMO requires them to pay is worth trashing a professional and reputable dental practice. People should realize that they could very well pay over $200 for the same filling somewhere else. Be lucky that you have dental insurance and quit the whining and finger pointing.
