Costa-Azzurra Restaurant
Costa Azzurra used to be one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. It has slipped a little but it is still good food at good prices. They do parties here that are really nice. Parking can be a hassle when the lot is full because it's an old neighborhood with narrow streets.
Duchess Restaurant
Duchess on Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton is a really good meal for a really good price. The chili dogs and onion rings are my favorite but everything I have ever had is good. Parking can be an issue, especially when the lunch crowd starts to hit the drive thru but it is worth it!
Connie's Family Restaurant
Connie's always serves up a good meal for a reasonable price. The protions are large and when they say family, they really mean it, they make you feel like one of the family.
Bloodroot Vegetarian Rstrnt
Bloodroot is a great place to go for vegetarian cuisine served in a very unique atmosphere. It's in a strange place and until you are inside, you might be tempted to leave. Don't. The food is excellent... desserts made me lick my spoon. The decor is fun, sort of early tag sale which now seems to be called chic (they had it first).
Mortensen's Restaurant-Ice Crm
Mortensens is a very popular place on the Berlin Trnpke. As a result, it is usually crowded and the service can be slow. But, the food is worth the wait and the ice cream is great. You can also buy it packed to take home.
White Flower Farm Inc
White Flower Farm is fun to visit for many reasons. One, if you can't find something anywhere else, you can probably find it here. Two, the staff is very helpful. And three, the grounds are spectacular. The gardens behind the display areas are just beautiful and fun to stroll through even if you aren't looking for anything but just want some ideas.
Al's Hot Dog Stand
Al's hot dog stand is on Rte. 63 in Naugatuck, right next to Rte. 8 for easy on and off. Don't look for anything fancy. I think the place hasn't changed much in years. Go up to the window and put in your order. Pick it up really quickly at the other window. You can eat outside at picnic tables or inside. Outside is much nicer even though it overlooks the parking lot. The hot dogs are the best but they also make a great soft shell crab sandwich in the summer.
Amity Gardens Ctr Llc
Amity Garden center has always been a great place to go for plants, shrubs and flowers but recently they added new display greenhouse that are huge, bright and airy. They have a wide variety of plants and the staff is very helpful whether your question deals with plants or which repellent is best to use to keep deer from eating your tulips.
The Shoppes At Buckland Hills
The Buckland Hills mall is huge. I think every retail chain has a store in this mall. If you can't find it here, you aren't looking. The mall is bright and well maintained and there is plenty of parking available.
Bee & Thistle Inn
The Bee & Thistle is loaded with Early American charm... so much so that you might expect the food to be just okay. You would be wrong. The food is out of this world and the service is very good.
